Trainer C Munce’s representative, Mr S Champion, was questioned regarding the late arrival to the enclosure of both, ASALWAS and MYTANG, in this event.  Mr Champion explained that he had to refit both bridles.  Stewards noted his explanation.

CASINO EVIL which slipped over in the mounting yard prior to proceeding to the barriers was inspected by the veterinary surgeon at the start and cleared to take its place.

UNOMORE - Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping away.  Shortly after the start hampered by SIGNORIA which shifted in.

ASALWAS - Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping away.  Shortly after the start hampered by SIGNORIA which shifted in.  Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

DYLANA - Approaching the 1000m restrained when tightened for room when MYTANG (B Stewart) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.  Jockey B Stewart was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances in future.

Jockey B Stewart (MYTANG) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m.

JAMESLEA BOTA - Bumped on jumping away.

SAVWELL - Bumped on jumping away.

OPTIMISTIC HEART - Hampered on jumping away between runners.

GOOD CATCH - Raced 3 wide throughout and was disappointing over the concluding stages.  When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey S Doyle explained that the instructions were to have the horse in a handy position which it got to without any real pressure and even though travelling 3 wide, he felt the gelding travelled comfortably until a point passing the 300m and when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GENERAL NELSON - Raced wide throughout.

THRU THE STORM – Tightened for room between runners passing the 700m when OPTIMISTIC HEART shifted out.

MAJESTIC SHADOW – Approaching the 400m steadied when racing in restricted room between SAVWELL which shifted out marginally and GOOD CATCH which shifted in marginally.

Race 3:  Classic Holidays QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1200m

Trainer C Anderson was fined the sum of $100 for the late rider declaration of App. A Fancourt as the rider of SEE MIRACLES.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by App. M McGillivray the rider of HEART OF AUSTRALIA which finished 2nd against FALLEN FOR YOU (J Taylor) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference in the early stages of the home straight.  On the evidence it was established that both runners bumped shortly after straightening however, stewards could not be satisfied that the bump was significant as HEART OF AUSTRALIA was slightly ahead of FALLEN FOR YOU prior to the incident and remained slightly ahead after the incident and remained there for the majority of the straight until the final few strides.  Therefore, stewards could not be satisfied that any interference had any material effect on the result and therefore dismissed the objection and gave correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

FALLEN FOR YOU – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 600m had to be steadied away from heels on a number of occasions.  Approaching the 300m bumped with another runner.

SIR ROTHEWAY - Slow to muster speed during the early stages.

HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Approaching the 900m steadied away from heels when ANGEL’S SCENT shifted in when insufficiently clear.  Approaching the 300m bumped with another runner.

CAPTAIN THE WORLD - Approaching the 900m had to be steadied away from the heels of HEART OF AUSTRALIA and shifted out causing EVERY SINGLE ONE to be checked.  Clipped heels and blundered passing the 800m.

EVERY SINGLE ONE – Slightly hampered and had to be shifted wider on the track passing the 800m.

SEE MIRACLES - Approaching the 600m had to be steadied away from heels on a number of occasions.

Jockey R Plumb the rider of ANGEL’S SCENT was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that passing the 900m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of HEART OF AUSTRALIA which had to be checked away from heels and in doing so CAPTAIN THE WORLD which was following also had to be checked away from heels and shifted wider forcing EVERY SINGLE ONE wider on the track.  Jockey Plumb was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 days, to commence at midnight, 25.06.17 and to expire at midnight, 04.07.17.

Race 4:  Sourcelinx Class 1 H’cap – 1800m

LEGAL STATURE – Passing the 1500m made the first turn awkwardly and laid out and was then tightened when cramped for room by SHUDA KNOWN BETTER which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.  From that point on, commenced to over-race when in a trailing position as the pace slackened.

SHEZA LILY - Held up for clear running from the 500m until approaching the home turn.

Race 5: RCI F&M Class 2 H’cap – 1200m

The start was delayed when KICK ‘N’ TEL proved very difficult to load.  Trainer Ms E Forrester was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
