SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 5/7/2017 – Race 7
 
Trainer T. Edmonds was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of HANOVER SQUARE as the horse had recovered well following the race.  Mr Edmonds indicated that he would drop the horse back in distance and experiment with gear changes at its next start.
 
 
RACE 1: Shane (Demons) Coster QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 900m
 
BOTTARGA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
HIDDEN LIGHT – Bumped at the start.  Passing the 100m was hampered by POWERFUL FLASH, which shifted in under pressure.  
 
EXCALIBRATOR – Bumped at the start.  Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
POWERFUL FLASH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
RACE 2: Lyle Stevenson Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
 
KICKSTART MY HEART – Blundered at the start.  Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MUSTANAERO – Bumped at the start.
PEAK HILL – Overraced in the early stages.
 
TREASURER JOH – Overraced in the early stages.  Raced wide throughout.
 
GOLDEN PASS – Leaving the 200m was hampered by NED’S ROUND, which shifted out to improve.
 
ASTRONOMIC – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CARD TRICKS – Raced wide throughout.
 
NED’S ROUND – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 3: Pat Welsh Maiden H’Cap – 1800m
 
MUDGEE ROAD – Began awkwardly.
 
KING AMADEUS – Slow to begin.
 
OPTIMISTIC HEART – Overraced early and blundered passing the 1500m.
 
ANGELA’S BEAUTY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
AVERNA MOUNTAIN – Approaching the 100m was obliged to steady away from the heels of DE LA LAD and shifted in to secure clear running over the concluding stages.
 
UNOMORE – Cast a near hind plate in running.
 
RACE 4: Nathan Harris Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m
 
As App J. Hodge was overweight stewards permitted App J. Guthmann-Chester to be substituted as the rider of REGULARITY.  App Hodge was subsequently fined $100.
 
SOCIAL VAMPIRE – Proved difficult to load.  Blundered badly passing the 1500m.  Jockey D. Griffin reported that the filly failed to handle today’s conditions and indicated it would now be sent for a spell.  Trainer H. Page confirmed that the filly would be sent for a spell.
 
LEGAL STATURE – Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with GYPSY WILD.
 
GYPSY WILD – Bumped at the start.  Overraced in the early stages.
 
REGULARITY – Bumped at the start.  Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SHEZA LILY – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room.
 
RACE 5: Alex OSullivan Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m

KITTI PING – Ducked its head as the start was effected and as a consequence lost ground.  Hung in throughout the home straight.
 
ABANDONMENT – App J. Woodhouse dropped his whip upon straightening.
 
RACE 6: Michael (Rangi) Young Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
 
ARMET – Proved difficult to load.
 
DALLINGER – Prior to the start lunged forward and broke through the barriers.  After being quickly restrained was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.  App C. Bayliss reported that the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage in today’s heavy conditions.
 
VICTORY DANCE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
JAYDEE INDY – Jockey J. Taylor reported the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage in today’s heavy conditions.
 
RACE 7: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 5 H’Cap – 1200m
 
LUCKY LUCRE – Slow to begin.
 
MORE THAN MONEY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.  Held up rounding the home turn and then had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ZIP TO THE MOON – When questioned regarding the performance jockey R. Plumb stated that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout and when placed under pressure upon straightening initially responded well however, peaked on its run leaving the 200m and finished off the race only fairly.  Jockey Plumb noted that the gelding was 3 weeks between races leading into today’s event after a tough first up performance.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
RACE 8: All Coast Skips Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m
 
MR CHA CHA – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HOTEL COSTE.  Jockey L. Dittman reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy conditions.
 
HOTEL COSTE – Bumped at the start.
 
GORADA – Slow to begin.
 
SWEET SHAMROCK – Slow to begin.
 
PURE WHISPER - Jockey R. Plumb reported that the gelding blundered badly on 2 occasions passing the 600m and again leaving the 500m and as such he was reluctant to place it under pressure in the home straight.  Jockey Plumb added in his opinion the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy conditions.  Trainer L. Elliott agreed with the comments of jockey Plumb.
