GENERAL
Jockey G Watson and Apprentice D Evans were both unable to attend today’s race meeting. Jockey Watson was advised that he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to riding in races again. Replacement riders as per Stewards Summary.
 
The starting time of Race 1 was put back approximately 20 minutes in order for a technical issue with the photo-finish equipment to be rectified.
 
Race 1: Burdekin Bridge QTIS Maiden Plate 900 metres:
1st – PRINCESS SIDEREUS        2nd – REVERBERATING          3rd – MAGITORIAL     4th – CATHEDRAL CITY
 
BANOFFE – Was reluctant to load. Stood flat-footed when the barriers opened missing the start by 8 lengths. Was wide at the home turn. Trainer Ms. L McCormack was advised that the mare would be required to perform one (1) satisfactory trial prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
REVERBERATING – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
POISE’N’STYLE – Raced ungenerously for some distance after being crossed by another runner near the 800 metres.
 
PALE FACE ROCKET – Was wide at the home turn.
 
BELMONT TURF BELLE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CATHEDRAL CITY – Jockey P Cullen reported that the filly had been kicked in the near fore by another runner post-race. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no sign of lameness despite some bruising to the cannon bone. Trainer Mr. J Manzelmann undertook to advise Stewards should any further abnormalities become apparent in coming days.
 
Race 2: Inkerman Hill Class B Handicap 900 metres:
1st – SEEYAWHENISEEYA        2nd – ZATOCHIO          3rd – SEEKTOWIN            4th – DECLAN STYLE
 
ZATOCHIO – Was slowly away after being fractious in the barriers.
 
HEY I’M READY – Was fractious in the barriers. Was slowly away and trailled the field throughout after beginning very awkwardly. Trainer Mr. F Wieland was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
SCHREIBER – Was slowly into stride.
 
SEEYAWHENISEEYA – Became awkward for a short distance after attempting to jump a discoloured patch of turf near the 400 metres.
 
LITTLE RED ROCKET – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
EIGHTH KEEPER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
The announcement of correct weight was delayed until after connections of the 2nd placegetter ZATOCHIO were afforded the opportunity to view the photo-finish of the race.
 
Race 3: Burdekin Falls Dam Benchmark 65 Handicap 900 metres:
1st – CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA    2nd – GUTZ CI              3rd – ROAD FOX     4th – STIEG
 
FALSE ALARM – Was a late withdrawal at 3:18pm by order of Stewards after refusing to proceed to the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on FALSE ALARM be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to 3:18pm be subject deductions of 3 cents in the dollar win and 3 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Ms. L McCormack advised that FALSE ALARM would be retired from racing immediately. Nonetheless Ms. McCormack was advised that the mare would be required to perform two (2) consecutive satisfactory trials under race day conditions prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
 
STIEG – Was fractious in the barriers.
 
MINNIE STREET – Bumped with another runner on several occasions when racing tight soon after the start. Raced ungenerously to the inside of other runners for a short distance near the 700 metres.
 
HEAD DRAGON - Bumped with another runner on several occasions when racing tight soon after the start.
 
DAZZLUNA – Was wide at the home turn.
 
Race 4: Groper Creek Benchmark 50 Handicap 1180 metres:
1st – TOXICITY   2nd – NYMBOI            3rd – SPIRITED SAINT              4th – MISS ROMANOVA
 
SPIRITED SAINT – Was unable to muster pace in the early stages.
 
NYMBOI – Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.
 
MISS ROMANOVA – Had to be checked after improving onto heels soon after straightening.
 
SPASH OUT – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
The announcement of correct weight was delayed until after Jockey S Wilson who rode the 3rd placegetter SPIRITED SAINT was afforded the opportunity to view the photo-finish of the race.
 
Race 5: Burdekin Race Club Class B Handicap 1460 metres:
1st – SPARKLING GIFT    2nd – WULFIES LADY            3rd – GENERAL BEERS   4th – TICKETS TO RIDE
 
WHO’S A STAR – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Was wide on straightening.
 
SPARKLING GIFT – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
WULFIES LADY – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
GROHL – Was wide at the home turn.
