STAR PICKET – Knuckled on jumping, became awkward, shifted out and made contact with LOOK TO HEAVEN.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 4.

Race 3: SIRROMET MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

COLLINS CREEK – As L. Cheshire failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil her engagement, B. Stewart was substituted as rider. Stewards accepted L. Cheshire's explanation for being unable to fulfil her commitment, however advised her to provide to them written evidence of the circumstances leading to her failure to fulfil the commitment. Commenced to buck shortly after the start and continued to do so for a considerable distance and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer S. Hardy was advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.

ZOUTANO – When questioned regarding the horse's seemingly improved performance, trainer C. Munce advised that the gelding has been showing more ability in track work than it has in its race performances. He said that last start it travelled will in the run on the speed but failed to finish the race off over the concluding stages. Therefore, he elected to remove the blinkers for today's event. He added that the horse was having its third run back from a spell in the appropriate grade today and he was hopeful that the horse would race much better and he was not entirely surprised by its win.

DONT DOUBT DA WIFE – Began awkwardly and then was buffeted shortly after the start.

INSTANTANEOUS – Inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the home turn.

MILADY DUCHESS – Checked near the 900m to avoid the heels of a runner which had bucked, lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the event. Rider J. Taylor advised that after his mount met with interference, he felt that the horse was not going to be competitive after losing so much ground and as a result he did not apply pressure to the mare.

Race 4: SCHWEPPES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

MORANO BELL, which refused to load, was declared a late scratching at 2 pm. Following the event, stewards ordered that all monies invested on MORANO BELL be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #4
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3

Trainer R. Drysdale was advised that MORANO BELL must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.

DONOT SAY ANYTHING – Began awkwardly.

SIDERE – Had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

GUILTY VERDICT – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more forward than it has at previous starts. After beginning awkwardly the horse settled in a midfield position. Held up from approaching the 400m until passing the 300m and then shifted out abruptly, forcing a run between STUNNING SHOW and POWER BIRD, which was forced wider on the track.

SCHEMEL – Lost the off hind plate in running.

FINE EYES – Raced wide in the early stages before pushing forward to obtain a position outside the leader at the 800m.

SWEET BUCKS – Raced in a distant last position for the entire event despite the urgings of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings, however as the rider reported that the horse had made an abnormal breathing noise during the event, trainer L. Birchley was advised to produce the results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing again.

Race 7: SKY RACING C,G&E CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M

I'M THINKING – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, L.
