GENERAL
 
Stewards inquired into a report that jockey M. Hellyer had a mobile phone in his possession whilst in the jockeyys room after race 5.. At a subsequent inquiry jockey Hellyer produced evidence of his mobile phone, which stewards perused to ascertain whether what calls or messages had been sent or receivedd After doing so it was evident that jockey Hellyer had used the device whilst in the confine of the jockeyys room however, stewards were satisfied that his use of the phone did not compromise the probity of any races in which he was engaged today. Jockey Hellyer pleaded guilty to a charge under AR160B(3) and was subsequently fined $400.
 
Race 1: Amigoos Maiden HHCap 1510m
 
As J. Morris was indisposed due to personal reasons stewards permitted T. Harrison to be substituted as the rider of JABROOK.
 
The start of the race was delayed when COMPLICIT lost an off fore plate on the way to the barrier and had to be refitted.
 
ISLAND SUNSET Slow to begin.. Had a tendency to lay in over the final 100m.
 
DEWEY BLUES Shortly after the start had to be steadied away from heels when awkwardly placed.. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RAHDANE Raced wide in the early stages until approaching the 1000m where it was able to obtain a position with cover.. Passing the 800m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of CANUNGRA KID.. Had a tendency to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.. Jockey R. Stewart lost his whip approaching the winning post.
 
COMPLICIT Rounding the home turn improved onto the heels of ELLERSLEY and had to be steadied.. After passing the 200m commenced to lay out under pressure for the remainder of the race.
 
ELLERSLEY Rounding the home turn was bumped on the hind quarters by COMPLICIT and became unbalanced for a few strides.
 
CANUNGRA KID Raced wide throughout.
 
STAR STRUCKED When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey M. Hellyer advised his instructions were to be positive and ride the gelding in a forward position.. Jockey Hellyer stated that in his opinion he did not think there was a lot of speed in the race and expected to be in a handy position.. Trainer G. Cornish advised that it has been his instructions at the geldinggs last couple of starts to ride it in a forward position however, it has been unable to do so.. Nevertheless, Mr Cornish wasreminded of his obligations to inform stewards of any change of tactics.

Race 2: Paulo And Greenie Maiden HHCap 800m
 
MIGHTY MITTERE underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.
 
MIRACLE STAR Fractious in the gates and reared on a couple of occasions prior to the start being effected.
 
DUTCH GAL Began very awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition almost dislodging its rider.. The saddle then shifted shortly afterwards resulting in its rider losing the use of his irons for the remainder of the event.. Then raced wide and was unable to be tested for the remainder of the event.
 
SIOUXSIE Began awkwardly.
 
BULLION BELLE Began awkwardly.. Laid in just after straightening.  
 
THE KINGGS WIDOW Began awkwardly.
 
MIGHTY MITTERE Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: Sweet As Bro QTIS 3YO HHCap 800m
 
The start was delayed when REDEX proved difficult to load.. Trainer M. Nolan was advised that a warning would be placed against the coltts barrier manners.
 
MISHANI WRANGLER Slow to begin.. Had to be steadied away from the heels of RED COLOUR passing the 400m.
 
REDEX Passing the 700m became awkward in its action.
 
WONDER BOOM Approaching the 100m shifted out under pressure and made contact with REDEX.. Then 20m from the finish again shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of REDEX, which became unbalanced.

 
Race 4: National Mining And Energy Staff Class 2 HHCap 1200m
 
The start was delayed when SHEZ OUR DESTINY underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider after arriving at the barrier and was subsequently cleared to take its part in the field.
 
APPLAUSE A STAR Fractious in the gates.
 
LORD MARKADUKE Blundered on jumping.
 
SHEZ OUR DESTINY Bumped on jumping by APPLAUSE A STAR.. Weakened over the concluding stages to finish tailed off.. When questioned regarding the performance App T. Brooker stated that she allowed the mare to race in its normal racing position at the rear of the field and at a point passing the 600m she applied some pressure to the mare and it commenced to hang out from that point on.. Upon straightening she was not totally comfortable with its action and therefore did not apply any more pressure to the mare over the concluding stages.. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
WAR FRONT Slow to begin.
 
FAR NORTH Passing the 800m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
ALL APPLES Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 5: Qld District Staff Ratings Band 0-58 HHCap 1010m
 
EVEES JET Approaching the 800m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of OVERGROWN, which shifted in marginally and outside of BREAK TIME, which shifted out marginally making contact with EVEES JET.. At a subsequent inquiry stewards were of the view that OVERGROWN was racing in a 4 wide position, all be it a tight 4 wide position and at a point approaching the 800m BREAK TIME in an attempt to hold its position one wide made the first turn awkwardly and shifted out slightly.. As Stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider no action was taken.. Approaching the home turn was held up for clear running.
 
TORRE SARACINO - Approaching the home turn was held up for clear running.
 
HIZOU - Approaching the home turn was held up for clear running.
 
SIR BAM Approaching the home turn was held up for clear running. Raced wide with cover throughout. Stewards questioned jockey J. Byrne regarding the performance.. Jockey Byrne stated that from the wide alley he was unable to push forward and be in a position on the speed, which the gelding normallyy races, as he would have been caught very wide on the track so he elected to restrain to take up a trailing position.. He further added that the gelding ran home reasonably and in his opinion would be better suited over a further distance than that of todayys event.
 
SHEES SO MEAN Raced wide throughout.
 
ULTRONEOUS Raced wide without cover throughout.. Jockey M. Shimodaira was reminded of his use of the whip on a horse out of contention.
Race 6: Thank You Courtney Masters Ratings Band 0-58 HHCap 1350m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of the 3rd placegetter KID CRUIZE to view the photo finish image.. After doing so they were satisfied with the Judgees decision and correct weight was declared.
 
KID CRUIZE Approaching the 800m was forced 3 wide by GREAT GRATS, which shifted from behind the leader to obtain a position outside the leader.
 
GREAT GRATS Shifted out approaching the 800m to obtain a position outside of KID CRUIZE, forcing that runner wider.. KID CRUIZE then raced 3 wide for the remainder.. Trainer B. Hudson reported at scale that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the race.
 
JACQUERIC Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
DERIVATATE Approaching the 400m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SONADOR FIRE, which shifted out to avoid the heels of GREAT GRATS, which in slightly. When questioned regarding the performance jockey B. Stewart indicated that the gelding raced as if it may appreciate races further than that of todayys event, which he advised the trainer.. In the circumstances he advised he was not overly disappointed with the run today.
 
LEDOYEN Held up rounding the home turn when placed at the heels of A NEW SOUND.
 
A NEW SOUND Held up from the 500m until entering the straight.. Over the final 80m raced in restricted room and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
 
Race 7: Farewell Andrew Vickers Ratings Band 0-62 HHCap 1690m
 
MONTRER DAME Slow to begin.
 
ZOFF OF THE WORLD Began awkwardly and bumped CAPTAIN TREASURE.
 
MYSTERIUM Bumped on jumping.
 
ANNIHILATION After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader at the 1300m.
 
ASTRONOMIC Hung out from a point leaving the 1300m and continued to hang out for the remainder of the event.. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which finished at the rear of the field, revealed abnormal hind limb gait. Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
CHAMPAGNE ROCK Raced 3 wide throughout.
