Supplementary Report: MOUNT GARNET TURF CLUB – FRIDAY 28th APRIL 2017
 
Trainer Mr T Rowe reported to Stewards that HOTEL SPLENDIDO had displayed signs of mild soreness in the off fore hoof after competing in Race 5.
 
General
 
DRAGON ROCKET and TIBYAAN which both won at Mount Garnet on Friday 28th April 2017 were both penalised 1.5kg in Race 1 on today’s program. Public announcements were made to this effect.
 
The following horses which competed at yesterday’s meeting were all examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start: DRAGON ROCKET, TIBYAAN, IZZY’S KEEPER, ROGUE ALLEY and REGAL ROTH.
 
Race 1: MJR Finance Brokers Benchmark 45 Handicap 1000m:
 
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 150m which resulted in TOXICITY (A Thomson) having to be restrained around heels after being disappointed for a run. After hearing evidence from Apprentice A Thomson (TOXICITY), Apprentice E Cass (PUB THUG) and Jockey F Edwards (TIBYAAN) it was established that PUB THUG had shifted in marginally at that point resulting in TIBYAAN being taken in and tightening the running of TOXICITY. Stewards advised Apprentice Cass to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
DRAGON ROCKET – Slowly away.
 
IZZY’S KEEPER – Bumped at the start. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
REVERENCE – Bumped at the start. Inclined to lay in down the running when placed under pressure.
 
ZAHEEB – Commenced to buck shortly after the start. Dislodged Jockey J Lambie who had a harmless fall and declared himself fit to complete his remaining engagements. Trainer Mr T Rowe was advised that the gelding would be required to complete  (2) consecutive barrier trials under race day conditions prior to being permitted to race again.
 
PUB THUG – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
DUNNY’S STAR – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 2: The Other Girl Class 6 Plate 1200m:
 
IRISH HEART – Slow to begin.
 
NUROCITY – Slow to begin.
 
ROCKETTE ROCKET – After being marginally slow away was crowded for room the commenced to race ungenerously for some distance passing the 1000m.
 
YIFAN – Taken wider by another runner near the 800m, raced wide from that point onwards.
 
CRAIGLEA ODYSSEY – Raced wide throughout.
 
EFFIGY BELLE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages and wide throughout.
 
RED DIAMONDS – A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor graze to the near fore knee.
 
Race 3: L.D Lucey Memorial QTIS Maiden Plate 1350m:
 
MONASHEE LASS – Tightened for room passing the 800m.
 
FREE PRESS – Shifted in passing the 800m inconveniencing another runner. Jockey M Kai was reprimanded under AR137(a).
 
ALPINE MAGIC – Raced greenly in the early stages.
 
ROGUE ALLEY – Rider B Thomson reported the mare raced ungenerously in the early stages. Jockey B Thomson was fined $100 under AR137A for excessive use of the whip.
 
RANGA ROCKET – Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
Race 4: Totally Workwear Mt Garnet – Cashmere Cup Open Handicap 1800m:
 
ASSERTIVE LOVE – Rider G Kliese reported on return to scale that his mount did not handle todays firm track conditions.
 
BLOUKRANS – Inclined to overrace in the early stages.
 
MISHANI GLADIATOR – Restrained off heels for a stride at the 1200m. Buffeted between runners for some distance passing 200m.
 
TRY ME DOL – Inclined to run about when placed under pressure near the 200m..
 
JORDAN – Shifted out under pressure near the 100m slightly inconveniencing another runner. App N Nelson was advised to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.
 
Race 5: Mt Garnet Roadhouse Gunnawarra Shield Benchmark 60 Handicap 1350m:
 
UNION JUKEBOX – Reared as the barriers opened losing ground. Raced wide early to middle stages.
 
WONDERFUL TALE – Raced wide in the early to middle stages.
 
BIG TOMEE – Shifted in near the 1200m inconveniencing another runner. Apprentice A Thomson was issued with a reprimand under AR137(a) for careless riding.
 
DANE SLUGGER – Had to be restrained near the 1200m when another runner shifted in when not quite clear.
 
OUR RECIPE – Had to be restrained off heels near the 1100m. Jockey B Thomson was fined the sum of $200 for excessive use of the whip under AR137A.
