General
Due to only 5 riders attending today’s meeting, both BAGGER MUSCLES (Race 1) and DOPPLER (Race 2) were declared late scratchings at 8:30am and 11am respectively when no riders were available.
Trainer D Murray was fined $100 under AR59(A) for failing to produce the Document of Description for CATZEL (Race 1) and FLAVIAN (Race 4). Both horses were permitted to start after being identified via the official Brands and Markings document.
Due to a technical malfunction, no photo finish was available for the race meeting. Consequently all official placings and margins were judged from the video replay, and all times were manually recorded.
Race 1: BENCHMARK 45 H’CAP 1000 Metres
JUST MICHAEL – rider K Gates reported at scale her intention was to ride the gelding with cover in the early stages of the event, however when JUST MICHAEL commenced to over-race shortly after the start she was obliged to race wide throughout.
Race 2: MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres
I LOVE KANDE – checked at 100m. App E Smith, rider of INFRANGIBLE pleaded to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 100m she allowed her mount to shift in under pressure when insufficiently clear of I LOVE KANDE resulting in that gelding having to be checked. After taking into account her good record and guilty plea, App Smith was suspended for a period of 8 days from midnight 17th June 2017 until midnight 25th June 2017.
INFRANGIBLE – shifted in and checked another runner near the 100m.
Race 3: CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 Metres
HASHTAG YOLO – laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
Race 4: OPEN H’CAP 1200 Metres
WILDEBEAST – laid in under pressure in the home straight.
JEB’S BOY – hampered at the start when another runner shifted out. Bumped by another runner rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.
FLAVIAN – jumped out at the start and bumped another runner. Made the home-turn awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground.
HUMANISE – shifted out and bumped another runner rounding the home turn. App L Dodds reported at scale the mare had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the event. A post- race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 5: BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP 1400 Metres
Prior to the declaration stewards viewed the DVD replay to review an incident inside the final 100 metres. After doing so they took the matter no further.
TIVERTON – inside the 100m shifted in and checked another runner.
ARLIS – checked inside 100m. App L Dodds, rider of TIVERTON pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that inside the 100m in that he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in under pressure when insufficiently clear of ARLIS, resulting in that gelding having to be checked. After taking into account his good record and guilty plea, App Dodds was suspended for a period of 8 days from midnight 24th June 2017 until midnight 2nd July 2017.
GUNDY MAGIC – began awkwardly and lost ground.
