STEWARDS REPORT
MAREEBA TURF CLUB INC. SATURDAY 18th MARCH 2017

WEATHER – FINE                    TRACK – GOOD 3                    RAIL – TRUE

OFFICIALS
Chairman of Stewards – R C Smith
Stewards – T Woodham
Clerk of Scales – B Gray
Judge – L Weir
Veterinarian – Dr E Maloney
Bookmakers Supervisor – Stewards
Starter – R Gardiner

Race 1: COLOUR STUDIO BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP - 900m

DRAGON ROCKET – Bucked in the early stages and took no competitive part in the event.  Trainer Mr. J Manzelmann was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

CHAT TIME – App. N Nelson advised the mare had hung out during the race despite her efforts.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey F Edwards, the rider of PRINCESS SIDEREUS which had been placed second, lodged an objection against CHAT TIME (N Nelson), being declared the winner on the grounds of interference in the home straight. After hearing evidence and viewing the patrol film Stewards formed the opinion that the margin (1/2 length) between the 2 horses at the finish exceeded any ground which may have been lost by PRINCESS SIDEREUS in the incident, and declared correct weight on the Judge’s numbers. Stewards advised App. N Nelson to stop riding and straighten when her mounts are shifting ground.

Race 2: MAREEBA MAZDA BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1100m

TOXICITY – Near the 900 metres had to be restrained when crossed by another runner.

OUR RECIPE – Raced wide throughout.

SPIRITED SAINT – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
