SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Thangool, Saturday 18th April 2015

Race 4: Owners & Trainers BM 55 Handicap - 1600 metres

Apprentice Darren Evans was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a), in that he allowed his mount, SPANNA, to shift in near the 1200 metres when insufficiently clear of MAGIC TWIST(App. N. Vuille), which had to be checked and shifted out, resulting in SHINKASHU (App. N. Summers) to be checked and lose ground. FEROCITY BLUE (L. Dodds), which was following, was also inconvenienced. App. Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 2 CQ meetings, to commence at midnight on 30th April 2015 up to and including midnight on 7th May 2015.

Race 1: Rocky Grammar School Race Day Maiden Handicap - 1500 metres
1st DIOXIDES 2nd BREATH OF TERA 3rd CRAIGLEA COPPER 4th - THOU ART

SHAKY DUKE - Pending any further submissions, trainer T. Austin will be fined $100 for the late declaration of App. Q. Krogh as the rider of the gelding. Slow to begin.

SPIRIT OF TRAVESTON - Slow to begin.

AMAZZLER - Was a little slow to begin, then raced wide until the 800 metres and laid out for a short distance leaving the 700 metres.

CRAIGLEA COPPER - Rider reported that in the home straight her mount was inclined to lay in.

HOPETOUN RULES - Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 2: RJC 100 Club 2YO Classic 22 May Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st ANN'S LUCKY BOY 2nd LIGHTNING ARTIST 3rd FLY ONCE MORE 4th - DEE MINISHING

FLY ONCE MORE - As Jockey A. Coome was to be overweight, Jockey S. Sheargold was substituted as rider of the gelding. Jockey Coome was fined $300 under A.R. 120(b). In assessing penalty stewards took into account that this was Jockey Coome's third offence under this rule within the past 3 weeks. Following the race Jockey S. Sheargold reported that the gelding hung in in the early stages of the straight.

DEE MINISHING - Near the 1000 metres ANN’S LUCKY BOY shifted out slightly resulting in DEE MINISHING being restrained, commencing to race ungenerously, then near the 900 metres laid in behind ANN'S LUCKY BOY.

MAGIC FORMULA - At the start shifted out onto another runner. Raced wide throughout.

ROYAL WOLF - At the start was bumped by another runner, which shifted out.

TARA'S RANSOM - Raced wide throughout.

APPLE TREE CREEK - When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and the performance of the mare, App. R. Payne stated that she was under no specific instructions, and from a wide barrier opted to obtain a position at the rear of the field, as in her opinion the mare lacked the pace to gain a position forward. She added that when placed under pressure near the 600 metres her mount responded and from the 400 metres found the line well.

Race 3: XXXX Gold Winter Carnival At Rocky Class 2 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st GEMINI KING 2nd SPURRED UP 3rd STYLISH LUCK 4th - WHITE TURF

Due to a miscommunication, Jockey A. Coome was dually engaged to ride GEMINI KING and WHITE TURF. Jockey R. McMahon was substituted as the rider of WHITE TURF.

STYLISH LUCK - Made contact with another runner on jumping. Bumped by another runner near the 600 metres.

SPURRED UP - Contacted by another runner on jumping.

HAY CAL – Near the 1100 metres, awkwardly placed on heels, taken inwards and eased. Bumped near the 600 metres. Jockey A. Lawrence reported that inside the 200 metres he became concerned about the action of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was mildly lame in the off foreleg. Jockey Lawrence was reprimanded for failing to weigh in for 5th place.

MANDALONG CATATAC - Rider reported that his mount raced keenly throughout and, bearing in mind the time between its runs, had lacked fitness. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was displaying a poor post-race recovery.

Race 4: www.callaghanpark.com.au Class 6 Plate - 1300 metres
1st VICTORY HOTEL 2nd CASINO BENJO 3rd POWER RANGER 4th - FINAL CHAPTER

BANNER - Blundered on jumping.

SEQUONIS - Hampered at the start when POWER RANGER shifted in and FINAL CHAPTER shifted out.

CASINO BENJO - Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

LANSDOWNE ROAD - When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding Jockey A. Butler stated that he was instructed to race back in the field with cover, however after beginning well his mount took up a position outside the leader of its own accord. Jockey Butler was of the opinion that it would have been detrimental to the gelding's chances to restrain his mount to take up a position as instructed. Trainer T. Button confirmed the instructions were to ride with cover, and he under took to monitor the horse's recovery in the days following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Mr Button was advised that he must furnish a veterinar clearance prior to LANDSDOWNE ROAD being permitted to race again.

Race 5: Twitter@ParkCallaghan QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st CODE ONE 2nd WAR NOISE 3rd CRAIGLEA JETT 4th - ECHELON ANNIE

THANK YOU - Late scratching, at 11.23 a.m., when trainer reported that the filly had sustained lacerations to its hind legs whilst being transported to the track and was lame. Trainer P. Fleming was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to THANK YOU being permitted to race again.

ECHELON ANNIE - Re-saddled prior to the start. Jockey P. Romeo reported that the saddle had slipped to the near side at about the 700 metres, however near the 400 metres he was able to re-position the saddle and continued to ride forward, however the saddle again shifted near the 100 metres and he was unable to ride his mount out.

CODE ONE - At acceptance time trainer advised stewards that the colt had been gelded.

COLD MELODY - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

HAY DEET - At the start was tightened between runners.

MOSTLY LUCKY - Over-raced in the middle stages.

WAR NOISE - Raced wide throughout.

METEOR'S MAN - Rider reported that his mount had over-raced throughout, which had been detrimental to the horse's chances. He added that near the 300 metres the gelding laid out and that he had suggested to connections that they remove the blinkers from the horse's gear for its next start.

Following this race Jockey J. Stanley was dehydrated and was stood down from his further engagements. Jockey Stanley was advised that he must provide a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.

Race 6: $10, 000 Trainers Bonus Winter Carnival BM65 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st - TYPHOON 2nd - OUTBACK LIGHTNING 3rd - FAST FOCUS 4th - KHAANTANTES

DARK ANGEL - Veterinary examination on arrival at the course revealed that the mare was lame in the near foreleg and had swelling to the hind pastern. Stewards declared it a late scratching at 1.51 p.m. Trainer G. Andrews was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the mare being permitted to race again.

STRATEGIC GLORY - Trainer S. Sigvart was fined $200 when the gelding raced without blinkers, which were part of its approved gear. Tightened between runners and steadied near the 700 metres.

FAST FOCUS - Stewards will seek clarification regarding gear changes and gear worn by the gelding in today's event. Slow to begin.

RAHULA - At the start shifted out and bumped another runner.

ELDOSHAR - A pre-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was resuming after a significant spell, did not reveal any abnormalities. Hampered by another runner which shifted out and was slow to begin.

SHEPIKTUS - Raced wide throughout.

TROPICAL HEATWAVE - Near the 900 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of another runner and had to be steadied. Following the race the rider reported that after being hampered he obtained a position further back than had been expected.

ISA TALA - Near the 700 metres was steadied from the heels of TYPHOON, which shifted out slightly. At the same time PHOTOBOMB shifted in slightly and caused STRATEGIC GLORY to be steadied.

TYPHOON - Shifted out slightly at the 700 metres. From the 200 metres until the winning post again shifted out. App. Krogh was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten.

OUTBACK LIGHTNING - Raced wide throughout.

PHOTOBOMB - Shifted in slightly near the 700 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey Stewart said that he was not overly disappointed with the gelding's run and was of the opinion that it was a fair performance, given that the gelding raced best when able to obtain a forward position. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

INDY MISS - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was tying up, and it was subsequently treated. Trainer G. Bell reported that the mare had pulled up fine after returning to the stables.

Race 7: 2016 Capricornia Classic Pay Up Now Due Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - BERNIN LOOSE 2nd - RAPIDSET 3rd - ZAHA EXPRESS 4th - BAFFLE

BERNIN LOOSE - Jockey A. Coome was fined $300 under A.R. 145 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight.

BARON REES - Jockey A. Butler replaced Jockey J. P. Stanley. Made contact with another runner on jumping. Raced wide throughout.

BENJI - Made contact with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ZAHA EXPRESS – Slow to begin, bounded in the air at the start, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of another runner and lost some ground. Rider reported his mount was inclined to lay out throughout. Near the 200 metres attempted a run to the outside of RAPIDSET, which shifted out slightly and caused ZAHA EXPRESS to be eased and shifted to the inside. Near the 100 metres, shifted in and away from RAPIDSET. Trainer and rider viewed the patrol film with the view to lodging an objection against second, after doing so, did not proceed.

KROSS REFERENCE - Was slow into stride.

Jockey A. Lawrence pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that near the 900 metres he allowed BENJI to shift in when insufficiently clear of KROSS REFERENCE (App. R. Payne), which was taken in onto INSTINCTIVE MOVE (App. Darren Evans), which in turn was taken in onto DOTHRAKI WARRIOR (App. N. Vuille) and resulting in SANTA FE DREAMING being checked and losing its rightful running. Jockey Lawrence was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 3 CQ meetings, to commence at midnight on 25th April 2015, up to and including midnight on 7th May 2015.

Aprentice N. Vuille was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that she allowed DOTHRAKI WARRIOR to shift in when insufficiently clear of KROSS REFERENCE, resulting in that mare being checked and taken in onto SANTA FE DREAMING, which clipped heels, was checked and lost its rightful running. App. Vuille was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 3 CQ meetings to commence at midnight on 30th April 2015, up to and including midnight on 9th May 2015.

SANTA FE DREAMING- Near the 400 metres, raced greenly between runners.
