Race 5 - DC Motors QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap

LUCKY CLOVER - Trainer R. Vale reported that the filly has been diagnosed with Grade 3 pharyngitis and may displace its soft palate. Ongoing medication will be required to treat this issue.

Rockhampton, 12th March 2016:

Race 6 - Tropical Auto Group BenchMark 70 Handicap

SHEPIKTUS - Trainer R. Vale advised that the mare was dehydrated following its engagement in this event.

MORE VALUE - Trainer D. Rideout was reprimanded for arriving late on course. Mr Rideout was advised that if he encountered any similar instance in future he should contact the stewards.

Race 1: Ironmonger Shipping Agencies Maiden Handicap - 1400 metres
1st ROCKCHESTA 2nd DYNAMIC EMBRACE 3rd THAT'S WOODY 4th - OUR LUCKY LUCY

THAT’S WOODY- Presented without blinkers, which is part of its approved gear. Trainer R. Vale was fined $200 under A.R.140A for failing to properly enact the gear change. Stewards permitted the gelding to race without blinkers and public announcements were made accordingly. Began awkwardly. Near the 900 metres THAT'S WOODY shifted in and away from another runner.

DIZZI LIZZI- Continued to shift in near the 900m, tightened runners to inside. Apprentice Krogh was advised to exercise more care.

DYNAMIC EMBRACE - Was a little slow to begin.

MORE VALUE – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 900 metres, tightened and had to be eased.

ROMANOV - When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Apprentice M. McGillivray stated that the gelding raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding may be fatigued. Trainer T. Button advised stewards that he will now spell the horse.

Race 2: Tony Madden Architects Pty Ltd QTIS 2-Y-O Fillies Handicap - 1100 metres
1st SECURITY BELLE 2nd LADY STIRLING 3rd LEGAL DECISION 4th - MANY CLOUDS

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice M. McGillivray, the rider of LEGAL DECISION which finished 3rd, against LADY STIRLING (Jockey D. Hayse) being declared 2nd, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official patrol videos and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that over the concluding stages both runners raced in close proximity and made contact on two occasions, however stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the contact had any effect on the placings. The protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand.

STAR FROM HEAVEN- Slow to begin then raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 900 metres shifted in onto IMNOTABAY (Jockey S. Sheargold) , which was racing greenly, shifted in and caused OUR SONG (Apprentice C. Jokic) to be steadied. Apprentice Summers was reprimanded.

OUR SONG- Steadied near the 900 metres.

LEGAL DECISION - Apprentice M. McGillivray was fined $200 under A.R. 137A for using his whip on 1 more occasion than is permitted under the rule.

Race 3: Larsen’s Airconditioning Hire QTIS 2-Y-O Colts and Geldings Handicap - 1100 metres
1st SAYROTHY 2nd BAUHINIA SID 3rd OVERLOAD 4th - BOUND TO ME

FLAT TO STACK - Refused to load into the barriers. Scratched by order of the stewards at 2.47 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on the gelding be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

8¢ in the dollar for the win on the winner, SAYROTHY
4¢ in the dollar for the place on the winner, SAYROTHY
8¢ in the dollar for the place on 2nd, BAUHINIA SID
23¢ in the dollar for the place on 3rd, OVERLOAD

Trainer S. Sigvart was advised that he must provide a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again.

HELLUVA HOFFA - Bucked in the early stages and tailed the field throughout. Trainer J. McConachy was advised that the gelding must compete satisfactorily in a trial before being permitted to race again.

BAYSIDE BANDIT - and OVERLOAD made contact on jumping.

BAUHINIA SID - Slow to begin.

CRUNCH TIME - Slow to begin.

BOUND TO ME - Jockey reported that his mount, which was wearing blinkers for the first time, over-raced for the majority of the event.

Race 4: Goody’s Earthmoving Open Handicap - 1300 metres
1st COURT CLOWN 2nd FINAL CHAPTER 3rd NEVZLIN 4th - SMART PATROL

POWER RANGER – Scratched and a veterinary certificate stating reasons was produced to Stewards.

NEVZLIN - Bounded in the air at the start and lost ground.

FERMENT - Lost the near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the off fore leg and possibly sore in both front legs. Trainer J. Pointon will be advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance before the gelding races again.

Race 5: The Landscaper-Dominic Doblo Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st RESET OUR WORLD 2nd JUST ONE WISH 3rd - COURTZIG 4th - STIRLING GIRL

HOT LOVE HIGHWAY - Reared and lost ground at the start. Improved onto heels of another runner and was restrained near the 700 metres.

KODO - Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was showing a slow recovery rate and an elevated heart rate, but no other abnormalities.

OUTBACK SAPPER - Had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 100 metres.

RESET OUR WORLD - Held up for clear running until near the 200 metres.

Race 6: Kennas Chartered Accountants Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st - I EXCEED 2nd - MUSCOVY 3rd - KING MAX 4th - BEST HURRAH

CAFÉ QUEEN – Declared a late scratching, at 9.47 a.m. on veterinary advice.

SAMMY SPARROW - Began awkwardly, bounded in the air and shifted out.

THE CATHOLIC GIRL - Began awkwardly.

WESTBURY ROAD - Slow to begin.

THE GIRLS IN PARIS - Near the 1100 metres shifted in marginally, and caused another runner to race in restricted room and to check.

KING MAX - Raced in restricted room and had to check near the 1100 metres. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied away from another runner. In the early part of the straight until near the 400 metres was held up. Over the concluding stages, shifted out slightly and caused DUDOOMP to be hampered.

DUDOOMP- Raced wide without cover throughout. Taken out and hampered over the concluding stages.

RISE TO FAME - Raced wide without cover throughout.

I EXCEED - Stewards will seek an explanation from trainer C. Dore in relation to the apparent improved performance of the gelding.
