SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT- Rockhampton Jockey Club 10 February, 2017 Class 1 Handicap- 1050m
 
Jockey D Evans was found guilty of failing to ride DRAGON FIRE out to the end of the race or approaching the end of the race (AR 137 (b)). Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that his actions had cost the horse a placing. Jockey D Evans was fined $300.
 
Race 1: “Aussie 25th Anniversary” QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st  - CASSAVANCE  2nd  -  HIGH RIDER  3rd  -  JAY JAY  4th  -  FORTUNATO BAMBINO
 
FORTUNATO BAMBINO - When Jockey J. Oliver’s riding gear failed to arrive on course prior to the first race, he was replaced by Apprentice N. Summers, when no senior rider was available. Apprentice Summers was fined $100 under A.R. 137A for using his whip on the filly 5 times more than permitted by the rule.
 
BRILLIANT MISTAKE - When Jockey B. Stewart was to be overweight, Jockey M. Barnham was substituted as rider of the colt.  Jockey Stewart was reprimanded, after stewards took into account mitigating circumstances. Slow to begin.
 
ROMAN AROUND - Slow to begin. Commenced to lose ground from the 800 metres. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L. Wanless was advised that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.
 
HIGH RIDER - Jockey J. Taylor was fined $100 for using his whip on the gelding on 5 occasions more than permitted under A.R. 137A. Stewards took into account that Jockey Taylor had not been penalised for use of his whip in the past 12 months.
 
NEED A WARRANT - Slow to begin.
 
CRAIGLEA CETINA - Began awkwardly. Near the 900 metres raced ungenerously for a short distance.
 
JAY JAY - Trainer C. Garland informed stewards that the gelding will now be spelled.
 
Race 2: Springton Park Open Handicap - 1400 metres  
1st  -  MOTORISED  2nd  -  CRAIGLEA WANDOO  3rd  -  WINSOMEMORE  4th  -  TERMS OF TRADE
 
CRAIGLEA WANDOO - Slow to begin, then was further hampered when WINSOMEMORE (App. C. Jokic) shifted in.
 
TERMS OF TRADE - Commenced to hang out from the 300 metres and shifted wider on the track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Due to a previous warning being placed on the horse for this behaviour, Stewards ordered that TERMS OF TRADE must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
 
Race 3: Willow And Ivy QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st  -  MISTA BUSY  2nd  -  TYRANNY  3rd  -  MOUNTAIN RETREAT  4th  -  ROCK ON SKYE
 
SAGA QUEEN - Prior to the declaration of correct weight trainer J. McConachy viewed the patrol film to determine whether to lodge an objection against MOUNTAIN RETREAT being declared 3rd. Having done so, he elected not to proceed with an objection. Shifted in and away from another runner shortly after the start and lost ground when contacted another runner.
 
MISTA BUSY - Dipped on jumping. 
 
JUST MICHAEL - Slow to begin.
 
NINO GOLD - Slow to begin.
 
TYRANNY - Slow to begin and contacted by another runner shortly after the start. Jockey N. Tomizawa was advised to make a greater effort to straighten his mount when he shifted ground in the straight.
 
MOUNTAIN RETREAT - Shifted in shortly after the start. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
ROCK ON SKYE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4: G and L Dunnett Plasterboard Contractors Maiden Handicap - 1300 metres

SOVEREIGN STAR - A pre-race veterinary examination cleared the horse to take its place in the field.
 
OUTBACK SURVIVER - Began awkwardly.
 
TAKE A CHANCE -  Slow to begin.
 
ELLIJAH'S CHOICE - Slow to begin.
 
Race 5:  Capricornia Survey Group Pty Ltd BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1600 metres   
1st - GLORY CITY  2nd - ALL HOST  3rd - JUST CALL ME LOUIE  4th -  MT ZIGGARO
 
PERFECTLY ALIGNED - At the start shifted out onto TAKE A CHANCE (App. C. Jokic) and lost ground.

ROCKLORD - At the start shifted out onto GLORY CITY.
 
ALL HOST - Held up and unable to obtain clear running until near the 400 metres,
 
GLORY CITY- Improved from the rear of the field into a forward position from the 1100 metres.
 
MT ZIGGARO - Apprentice N. Summers reported that near the 1300 metres, when over-racing, her mount had to be restrained from the heels of ALL HOST. It was observed also that MT ZIGGARO was held up for clear running for a short distance near the 400 metres.
 
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of GLORY CITY, Trainer G Bell stated that after its previous start the blood analysis had not been satisfactory and consequently she had altered its feeding regime. She added that with the step up in distance, an improved performance was expected.
 
Race 6: Become A Club 150 Member BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1100 metres   
1st- SHIGZAG  2nd -  CLAIM THE THRONE   3rd-  SHROUDED   4th-  ARQUATAS
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey L. Attard, the rider of CLAIM THE THRONE, viewed the patrol film to determine whether to lodge an objection against SHIGZAG being declared the winner. Having done so, Jockey Attard elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared.
 
ARQUATAS - Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 for failing to declare Jockey C. Jokic as rider of the mare by the prescribed time.
 
AROUND THE MOON - Slow to begin.
 
COVERT CHARMOUR -  and SHIGZAG - Made contact on jumping.
 
MUNSTER - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ABANDONED LOVE - Brushed with another runner on jumping.
 
SHIGZAG-  Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
CLAIM THE THRONE - Had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 metres.
 
Race 7: 2017 Racing Gala Ball - Sat 11 March Class 1 Handicap - 1400 metres

TWO OF A KIND - Declared a late scratching, due to lameness, at 9.25 a.m.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight Apprentice D. Graham viewed the patrol film of the home straight, with a view to lodging an objection. Having done so, she elected not to proceed and correct weight was declared.
 
FIRST REGRET - Slow to begin.
 
HAY DEET - Began awkwardly.
 
WESTBURY ROAD -  Made contact with another runner at the start.
 
SEACITY - Made contact with another runner on jumping.
