SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From 9 June 2017 – Race 5: It was reported that LIGHT UP VEGAS had a nasal discharge following the race, had been freshened up from training and treated.
 
Race 6: Trainer T. Button reported that WICKED INVESTMENT had pulled up fine and that he would review the horse’s preparation following a further run.
 
From 10 June 2017 – Race 2: Jockey Dale Evans pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he had used his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m on TAKINGS. Stewards considered the totality of whip use, his poor record and that the horse was in a 1600m race and placed 2nd. Jockey Evans was fined the sum of $400. Jockey Evans was placed on notice that further breaches of this rule may result in a suspension being imposed.
 
Race 1: COOPERS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400M
 
BOY IN A MILLION – When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, S. Sheargold stated that he had been able to place the horse in a favourable position, however, when placed under pressure prior to straightening, the gelding failed to respond and yielded ground from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the indication of early symptoms of a respiratory infection. Stewards will follow up with trainer M. Attard regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
 
DIAGORAS – J. Morris reported he had advised connections that the horse may have a breathing issue that may have affected its performance today.
 
Race 2: SAVAGE, BARKER BACKHOUSE BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1804M
 
BOLD AVENUE – Apprentice C. Bayliss could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. Trainer G. Taylor stated that in his opinion the horse had to work hard to go forward and lead and raced keenly when able to do so. He advised that at this stage he might continue with the horse’s preparation however, he would notify stewards otherwise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 3: ION JACKSON MEMORIAL QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
DOOGUS – Slow to begin.
 
DUAL PERSONALITY -  Raced wide without cover.
 
HIGH RIDER – Slow to begin.
 
LOTA CREEK GOLD – Had to alter course near the 400m.
 
STRALYA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TUSCAN GAMBLER – Rolled out near the 400m, resulting in LOTA CREEK GOLD having to alter course.
 
HIDDEN GODDESS – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 4: WILLOW AND IVY QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M
 
SCUTARI – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover.
 
SOME COLLECT – Slow to begin.
 
TAUGHT BY THE BEST – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover and laid in over the final 200m.
 
MAGIC EIGHT BALL – Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 900m.
 
Race 5: UBET/CHANNEL 7 CALCUTTA – 23 JUNE BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1050M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Q. Krogh, the rider of 3rd placegetter OUTBACK LIGHTNING, viewed the patrol films of an incident in the straight. After doing so, he did not proceed with lodging an objection.
 
CLATEAU – Had to be steadied near the 300m when BLAZING STEEL (J. Morris) shifted in. J. Morris was reprimanded for using insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in at that point.
 
TURKEY BEACH – Overraced in the middle stages and near the 600m had to be restrained from heels. Made contact with OUTBACK LIGHTNING when shifting out near the 300 metres, taking that runner wider.
 
OUTBACK LIGHTNING – Taken wider when bumped by another runner near the 300 metres.
 
Race 6: CHANNEL 7 LADIES LUNCH – 23 JUNE BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1300M
 
Due to no other available rider being available at or closer to the allotted weight, D. Evans was engaged as the rider of LOGICAL OUTCOME and permitted to ride that horse half a kilogram overweight.
 
QUICK ASSAULT – A. Coome was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Stewards could not be satisfied that jockey Coome’s actions had cost his mount 4th placing.
 
STYLISH LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
WICKED INVESTMENT – Slow to begin.
 
ELLE THE MODEL – Raced wide with cover.
 
ANGELS CROWN – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LOGICAL OUTCOME – Slow to begin.
