From 10 June 2017 – Race 2: Jockey Dale Evans pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he had used his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m on TAKINGS. Stewards considered the totality of whip use, his poor record and that the horse was in a 1600m race and placed 2nd. Jockey Evans was fined the sum of $400. Jockey Evans was placed on notice that further breaches of this rule may result in a suspension being imposed.

Race 1: COOPERS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400M

BOY IN A MILLION – When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, S. Sheargold stated that he had been able to place the horse in a favourable position, however, when placed under pressure prior to straightening, the gelding failed to respond and yielded ground from the 300m. BOLD AVENUE – Apprentice C. Bayliss could offer no tangible explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. Trainer G.
