Jockey W. DDAvila, rider of Cozumel, was fined $300 for use of his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Stewards took into account the distance of the race and the totality of his use.
 
Trainer S. Rundle was questioned regarding the late scratching of Miss Hoffa.. Mr Rundle explained he was aware that an apprentice rider was available however misunderstood if he was able to engage an apprentice, and if so he was reluctant to do so considering the mannerisms of the horse. His explanation was accepted.

Race 1: Elders Financial Planning Rockhampton Maiden Handicap- 1050 metres
 
 
FONTEIN MAGIC - A pre-race veterinary inspection of the horse after it had significant time away from racing cleared the horse race.
 
MISS DE MIRAGE - A pre-race veterinary inspection of the horse after it had significant time away from racing cleared the horse race.. Slow to begin.
 
ROWDY ROUSEY - Slow to begin.
 
DUANSKILL - Jumped in the air at the start.
 
FAY ELEMENT - Jumped outwards at the start.
 
THE WEATHERGIRL - Laid in over the concluding stages behind DRAYMAN.
 
Race 2: Rockhampton Engineering & Maintenance Services BM 70 Handicap- 1500 metres
 
CLAIM THE THRONE - Made contact at the start.
 
MACHO TYCOON Made contact at the start.
 
DUAN MAJOR - Slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount failed to stretch out throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be significantly lame in the near hindleg. The race day veterinary surgeon recommended x-rays be undertaken, and connections were advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next race start.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, jockey N. Day, rider of the second placegetter, CLAIM THE THRONE, viewed the available patrol films, and after doing so lodged an objection against the winner, BENTLES (L. Tilley),, in regards to use of the whip by that jockeyy prior to the 100 metres. After taking evidence from all relevant parties, and from the stewardss observations of the patrol films it was established that jockey L Tilley had used his whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres, however given the totality of use, and the discretion of the stewards, it was considered that he was not in breach of the rule, and that it had no bearing on the placings of the horses and the objection was subsequently dismissed.
 
 
Race 3: City Printing Works Open Handicap- 1100 metres
 
CLOSE THE BEACHES - Slow to begin.
 
JUST CALL ME LOUIE - Eased near the 900 metres when PARADIS IMPERIAL shifted in when not fully clear.
 
Race 4: Capricornia Newspapers Pty Ltd Class 3 Plate- 1050 metres
 
ANNIEES OUR HERO Slow to begin.
 
MISS HOFFA Made contact at the start. Broke down leaving the 450 metres, due to a suspected spinal or pelvic injury, and was subsequently euthanised.
 
MYSTIC LAD Made contact at start.
 
CHICA PEEPS - Held up for clear running from the 400 metres until near the 200 metres.
 
COZUMEL - Race 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: Butler Partners (Regional) Pty Ltd QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres  
 
The start time of this race was delayed due to CHEEKY STAR having to have its off fore plate replaced prior to going onto the track. A further delay occurred when it dislodged its rider during the preliminary.. Jockey W. DDAvila was cleared to fulfil his engagement. CHEEKY STAR was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
CHEEKY STAR - Trainer R. Vale informed stewards that the horse had a caslick procedure since its previous start. Near the 900 metres had to be eased from the heels of GAP THE FIELD.
 
GAP THE FIELD - Underwent a prerace veterinary inspection due to a significant time off from racing and was passed to start.
 
LLAMOUR MALADE - Slow to begin.
 
CHARLOTTEES LUCK - Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover.
 
BRILLIANT MISTAKE - Slow to begin.
 
DUAN PHOENIX - Slow to begin. Held up for a short distance from the 400 metres.
 
NEED A WARRANT Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
GAP THE FIELD - Underwent a prerace veterinary inspection due to a significant time off from racing and was passed to start.
 
UNDERCOVER GIRL Jockey L. Tilley reported that over the concluding stages the horse shifted ground, and that it may have held its breath or displaced its palate, and he had advised the trainer to have the horse scoped.
 
Race 6: St Peterrs Caulfield Cup - Sat 21 Oct BM 55 Handicap- 1100 metres  
 
Due to the delay in Race 5, Race 6 was rescheduled to 4.25 pm and Race 7 to 4.55 pm.
 
ROUGISSANTE - Jumped in the air at the start.. Near the 300 metres improved to the inside of TABRIZ, which near the 200 metres rolled in, placing ROUGISSANTE in restricted room and having to be eased.
 
POETIC SHOW Dipped on jumping.
 
DYNAMIC DRAGON - Jumped in on to CSARDAS at the start.
 
CSARDAS Bumped at the start. Raced wide without cover.
 
SHROUDED - Race wide until near the 800 metres.
 
OUR LUCKY LUCY - Held up leaving the 300 metres and until the 200 metres.
 
GOWER - Race wide without cover throughout.
 
ZAHA EXPRESS Trainer reported that his mount lost its bubble cheeker in running.
 
Race 7: XXXX Gold BM 60 Handicap- 1300 metress 
 
The start of this race was delayed when SHEER PERSISTENCE required attention to the off fore plate.
 
ELLE THE MODEL - Slow to begin.
 
SKY BROOK - Slow to begin.
 
NASTY GAL - Began awkwardly and was slow into stride..
