Apprentice C. Bayliss, rider of LAUDABLE LEMON, was reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Race 3: XXXX Class 3 Plate – 1400m

PROMISCUOUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Bled from both nostrils during the race. Connections were advised that the horse would now be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

RUSTIC VIEW –  After viewing the video footage stewards observed that RUSTIC VIEW had an awkward action and after performing poorly a veterinary examination was ordered  which found no abnormalities.   Trainer  J. Johnston  indicated he would recommend to connections to consider retiring the mare.   Stewards advised Mr Johnston that if connections continued with the horse’s racing preparation, it would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.

Race 5: #SCTURFClub QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1000m

FATAL RENDEZVOUS – After being loaded into the barriers was found to have injured its off hind hip and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.43 pm on veterinary advice.  Following the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

LOVE BITES – Slow to begin.

MAKUBA – After being slow to begin, then clipped the heels of another runner and blundered, losing significant ground.

Cahill having to take hold  of that horse and lose ground at approximately the 900m.  Apprentice White was suspended from riding in races for  a period covered by 8 days, to commence at midnight, 12 February and to expire at midnight, 20 February.

SIROCAN – Raced 3 wide without cover.

Race 8: Weddings @ SCTC Class 1 H’cap – 1600m

MINSK – The start of this race was delayed when the horse lost its near hind plate after leaving the enclosure, and after attempting to reattach the plate, the decision was made, after consultation with trainer K. Walker, to allow the horse to race bare foot behind as the farrier was unable to reattach the plate due to the horse being fractious.  Raced with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and obliged to alter course shortly after entering the home straight to secure clear running.

LADY ATHENA – Slow to begin. Clipped heels and blundered after passing the 600m when SON OF JUSTICE shifted out to improve around STAINER.  Jockey S. Bogenhuber was reprimanded for shifting ground when not fully clear.

STAINER – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead.

FOXWHISTLE – Jockey M. Cahill reported his disappointment with the horse’s performance and attributed this to his mount racing too keenly in front and therefore not running out a strong 1600m.  He indicated he recommended to connections to drop the mare back in distance and attempt to secure cover as he felt it would settle if given that opportunity. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress.
