OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – J. Williamson
Stewards – A. Reardon, M. Knibbs
Clerk of Scales – K. Daly
Judge – P. Chilton, P. Golley
Veterinarian – A. Murdoch
Swab Attendants – G. Gray, A. Challen
Starter – R. Hanson
Stewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski

Race 1: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M

SWEET SAVANNAH – Had to be steadied when weakening after passing the 300m to avoid the heels of IZZAH, which shifted out. Apprentice B. Panya, the rider of IZZAH, was severely reprimanded.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to HEAVY 8.

Race 2: YALUMBA CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

VOLOMITE – Slow to begin. L. Cassidy reported that the horse was under pressure throughout the event and had failed to run on over the concluding stages. Trainer S. Ryan advised that in light of today’s performance he would look to retire the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

PARANA – When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer L. Fullarton indicated that he had anticipated the horse settling in a rearward position, adding that he was not disappointed with the horse’s most recent form and with a step up in distance he had expected a forward showing today as in his opinion the horse has been finishing its races off well. He added that he had anticipated the horse being at the tail of the field today.

Race 3: XXXX MAIDEN H’CAP – 1600M

SEA ROUTE – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

GET REAL GIDGET – Raced three wide without cover when attempting to secure the lead after passing the 1200m and remained in a three wide position throughout.

MISHANI SILVA – Significantly slow to begin. Trainer D. Murphy was advised that the horse will require a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.

QUEEN GEE – J. Taylor reported that his mount laid in throughout, more so under pressure in the home straight, placing him at a disadvantage over the concluding stages.

Race 4: HOT 91.1 LADIES OAKS DAY 2 JUNE 2017 QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

BLACK CRUSADE – Bumped and became awkward after passing the 600m. Shifted out in the home straight and bumped another runner.

CAPTAIN CRUMPET – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Stewards questioned B. Pengelly regarding his apparent lack of vigour throughout the event. He indicated that after being significantly buffeted shortly after the start the horse lost ground quickly and despite slapping the horse down the shoulder on a number of occasions the horse did not respond to his riding and he felt that it did not handle today’s track conditions. Stewards advised jockey Pengelly that whilst they were mindful of his explanation he would be expected in similar circumstances to ride, particularly in the early stages, with more purpose than he demonstrated in today’s event.

CRAIGLEA DETROIT – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

THE GROGFATHER – Significantly slow to begin and took no competitive part in the event. Connections were advised that a warning will be placed on the horse.

HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Shifted out to improve and bumped another runner after passing the 600m. Bumped on a number of occasions in the home straight.

Race 5: COASTLINE BMW MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

HERRSCHAFT – Steadied away from heels near the 500m.

INVINCIBOY – Checked when tightened for room between runners near the 200m.

REAL MACHINE – Raced greenly throughout, shifted out when being restrained near the 1000m and again shifted wider near the 800m. Shifted in near the 200m despite the efforts of its rider and tightened the running of another runner.

WALK OF SHAME – Held up rounding the home turn.

FATAL RENDEZVOUS – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m and tightened the running of another runner. T. Brooker was advised that in similar circumstances she should stop riding and straighten her mount.

KYLIE’S KISSES – Significantly slow to begin. L. Cassidy reported that the horse did not travel at any stage and he was obliged to pressure the horse throughout the event.

Race 6: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M

KAPHINI – Slow to begin. B. Pengelly said that he was disappointed with the horse’s overall performance and that it did not improve when asked for an effort passing the 600m, and in his opinion this may have been attributable to the rain-affected racing surface.

VICTORY EIGHT – Forced wider passing the 400m. Laid in in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

CHIN CHUN – Began awkwardly.

JE SUIS PREST – A. Fancourt lost the use of the nearside rein for a short distance near the 100m.

Race 7: WWW.SCTC.COM.AU CLASS 3 PLATE – 1600M
