RACE 1: JEFF HANNAFORD PTY LTD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

SEAVIEW – A pre-race examination of the horse which had not started since July 2016 cleared the gelding to race.

KAPACHINO MISS – Began awkwardly.

RUMBA LAARA – Rider S. Apthorpe reported at scale that his saddle shifted to the near side entering the home straight and proved difficult to ride out from that point onwards.

AGUERO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SIR TITANITE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground as a result.

WILD JUSTICE – Raced wide early stages. Rider L. Tilley reported at scale that the filly raced greenly in the home straight.

Trainer B. Johnson was fined $100 for failing to produce the identification card for SMASHBY.

RACE 2: RIVERINA STOCKFEED/ALEXA PIG COMPANY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when NOOR DROPPER and THE ROBBER were loaded into the incorrect barriers and had to be reloaded.

Correct weight was delayed to allow C. Eaton, rider of the second placegetter, THE ROBBER, to view the patrol footage to ascertain if she had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner, HEZA CHUMLEY.
Also, to allow apprentice G. Hayes, rider of the 4th placegetter, NOOR DROPPER, to view the patrol footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against third place getter, MAC’S BOY.

After viewing all the patrol footage, rider Eaton and apprentice Hayes declined to lodge a protest and correct weight was declared.

MAC’S BOY – Bumped at the start. Held up leaving the 150m until shifting out to obtain clear running near the 50m.

HEZA CHUMLEY – Bumped at the start.

CHAMPAGNE WARRIOR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

CHILLDOWN – Tightened for room between runners at the start.

ROUBAIX – Barrier gate was slightly slow to open.

CORRYVRECKAN – Trainer G. Richardson reported after the race that the gelding bled one nostril. Mr Richardson was advised that a 1000m gallop is required to stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.


RACE 3: BRANDON & ASSOCIATES/TARA RURAL SUPPLIES CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M

ARLIS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ECHOING - Raced wide for the majority of the event.

NIMIA – Raced wide in the early stage of the event.


RACE 4: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL TARA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M

KING LUDWIG – Rider C. Eaton reported at scale that the gelding did not suit the track conditions of today’s event. Trainer J. Crompton advised that the gelding would be sent for a spell. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

CHILLI BEACH – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

RACE 5: COMMERCIAL HOTEL/HENCOL CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400M

JILL’S SHADOW – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SANJAY – Raced wide until improving to a position outside the lead near the 800m.

Rider G. Steele (PRINCE OF PEACE) was reprimanded for use of whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
