Race 1: ST PATRICKKS CATHEDRAL MAIDEN PLATE 1625M

The start of this race was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event.

CANUNGRA KID Slow to begin.. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages, and shifted wider on the track rounding the turn near the 1300m.. Jockey Brad Appo was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his allotted weight.. On return to scale, jockey Brad Appo reported that the gelding travelled well during the event, however when asked for its finishing effort his mount failed to respond as he had anticipated, and raced one pace during the home straight, and proved disappointing.

DEWEY BLUES Raced ungenerously for a short distance in the early stages whilst being restrained.. On return to scale, Apprentice H. English reported that her mount was inclined to hang for the majority of the event.

MATCH DAY Slow to begin.

LITTLE MISS MONACO Slow to begin.. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and, as a result, was reluctant to hold its position inside another runner.

SHEZA GOOD GIRL Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ROSCOMMON Raced ungenerously when steadied from heels at the 1200m.

ISLAND SUNSET After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider approaching the 1400m and as a result settled further forward in the field than anticipated.

Race 2: HY-TEC QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1300M

MISHANI RAINMAN When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, Trainer B. Currie reported that prior to the horsees first start, it trialled well in that it was beaten less than two lengths whilst wearing steel shoes.. He added that at Ipswich the horse was tightened for room at the start and lost ground and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated.. He also added that on that occasion the horse was asked to improve into the race on what he felt was inferior going and therefore, in his opinion, that run could be disregarded due to the circumstances.. Mr Currie also reported that for todayys event he added blinkers to the geldinggs gear, which he feels was an advantage today.. Stewards noted the explanation.

AQUIVER Became fractious in the barriers, knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.

HUMDRUM A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which tailed off during the event, revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.. Trainer S. Kirkwood was advised that prior to racing again the filly will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards, and subsequently produce a veterinary certificate for the filly, including the results of an ECG.

Race 3: A1 KERBS & EDGING MAIDEN PLATE 1050M

The start of this race was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event.

CHEVYS DESIRE Prior to the event, jockey L. Tilley advised that, from the wide barrier today, his instructions were to ride the gelding more quietly than its most recent starts.. The gelding was ridden accordingly.

SUPERVISOR Apprentice H. English suffered a harmless fall when she was dislodged from her mount during the preliminary.. The horse galloped a short distance before being recaptured..

TEMUJINNS RULE Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 900m.. Bumped by another runner and became unbalanced near the 150m.

POP NN ZAC Clipped heels and blundered when racing keenly near the 700m.. Accidentally struck with the whip of another rider whilst laying in near the 200m.

HIDE THE CANDY Steadied from heels near the 900m.. Apprentice M. Schrapel accidentally dropped his whip near the 150m.

Race 4: D.J.L. BUILDING GROUP CLASS 3 PLATE 1050M

As G. Geran was to be overweight, L. Tilley was substituted as the rider of TRUE JOY.. G. Geran was reprimanded.. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Geranns previous good record in relation to this rule.

AMANAAT Bumped at the start.

FAR NORTH Bumped at the start.. Raced wide throughout.

BIG BRITCHES Bumped at the start.. Stewards questioned jockey J. Rudd in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare, particularly during the early and middle stages, and as to whether there was an opportunity to take a trailing position behind AMANAAT, the short priced favourite and eventual winner of the event.. Jockey Rudd advised that in its most recent starts the horse, whilst showing barrier speed, has failed to travel in its races, and for that reason he rode aggressively during the early and middle stages, and formed the view that his best option was to endeavour to hold a positon to the inside of AMANAAT.. Having had the opportunity to view the Stewards patrol footage, jockey Rudd agreed with Stewards that he had erred in not restraining his mount to a trailing position behind AMANAAT passing the 800m, which would have given his horse a better run for the remainder of the event..

NOVARUPTA Bumped at the start.

SHEAR VOGUE On return to scale, Apprentice B. Nothdurft reported that his saddle shifted backwards on jumping away, placing him at a disadvantage throughout.. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TRUE JOY Began awkwardly.. Raced ungenerously for a short distance whilst being restrained near the 800m.

Race 5: PAUL WIEDMAN ELECTRICAL CLASS 1 HHCAP 1200M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to enable Apprentice S. Sweeney to view the Stewards patrol footage of the start.. Correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judgees semaphored numbers.

FINE EYES Jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground, and then failed to muster early speed.. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

WAKE UP JEFF Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.

SKYLIGHT Tightened for room at the start.

GENERAL COS Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

TAUGHT BY THE BEST Raced keenly in the early stages, and whilst being restrained to a position closer to the running rail near the 900m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner.. Eased when placed in restricted room by HOT TALK which shifted out to secure clear running approaching the 300m.

Race 6: D.M.C. BENCHMARK 75 HHCAP 1200M

NARANJA Improved onto the heels of another runner near the 550m, and was forced to shift out abruptly.

HOT VINNI Raced wide without cover throughout the event.

APOLOBOOM Raced wide in the early stages.. Bled both nostrils.. Ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

BENICOOS PRINCE Slow to begin.

ISNNT SHE ELEGANT Raced ungenerously with its head in the air whilst be restrained in the early stages.

COURTZIG Checked near the 550m.. M. Pegus, the rider of APOLOBOOM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 550m when insufficiently clear of PUFFFS GIRL, which was taken in onto COURTZIG resulting in that runner being tightened for room and checked. Jockey Peguss licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 11 October 2017 and expire at midnight on Thursday 19 October 2017.. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Peguss guilty plea, and his previous good record in relation to this rule.

SELFIE Slow to begin.

FERRIGNO Raced 5 wide without cover throughout the event.

Race 7: ST SAVIOURRS PRIMARY SCHOOL BENCHMARK 62 HHCAP 1850M

During the saddling process it was noted by the yard Steward that THEREES NEMO was being saddled with the incorrect saddlecloth.. Prior to being presented to the enclosure the correct saddlecloth was provided to the Trainer.. Jockey Beau Appo was reprimanded as a result of this incident.. In assessing penalty, Stewards were mindful of the particular circumstances in this case.
