Race 3: WONDAI DIGGERS CLUB CUP BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1100M
Following the running of this event a protest was lodged by the rider of the fourth placegetter HIDDEN ANGEL, alleging interference from the second placegetter, CHAYSE ‘N’ MASON, near the 600m. After taking evidence from the riders involved it was established that whilst HIDDEN ANGEL was steadied when forced to race in restricted room at this point of the event, stewards could not be satisfied that this interference could not be solely attributed to any shift from CHAYSE ‘N’ MASON nor was it sufficient to alter the placings. Therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared.

HIDDEN ANGEL - Steadied when tightened for room near the 700m.
MITCHY’S INSTINCT – R Faehr, the rider of WILD ELEMENT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 500m when not clear of MITCHY’S INSTINCT causing that horse to be checked. Jockey Faehr’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 day from 4/5/17 until 12/5/17.
