When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, Trainer B. Currie reported that prior to the horses first start, it trialled well in that it was beaten less than two lengths whilst wearing steel shoes. He added that at Ipswich the horse was tightened for room at the start and lost ground and, as a result, settled further back in the field than anticipated. He also added that on that occasion the horse was asked to improve into the race on what he felt was inferior going and therefore, in his opinion, that run could be disregarded due to the circumsta

A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which tailed off during the event, revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer S. Kirkwood was advised that prior to racing again the filly will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards, and subsequently produce a veterinary certificate for the filly, including the results of an ECG.
