The QBRED scheme is aimed at providing owners and breeders with enduring benefits and the confidence to breed QBRED.  A key component of the QBRED for life scheme is enabling horses to win their bonuses at any age meaning less pressure to breed a horse early in the season, less pressure on horses having to win their bonus by the end of a season and ensuring horses that mature later in life maintain the opportunity to win these lucrative bonuses for their connections. LIFE AFTER RACING

SAQ-show-horse.jpgAn important part of owning a racing animal is to plan for their life after retirement from racing.

Standardbreds are known as kind, willing and versatile horses that can excel in many disciplines outside their traditional role of harness racing. Standardbreds have successfully transitioned into both Pleasure and Performance horses once they are finished on the track.

Read more about life after racing, rehoming and the QRIC Equine Welfare Program HERE.

The Standardbred Association Queensland (SAQ) aims to increase the demand for retired Standardbred racehorses as pleasure and performance horses and this is being done through the SAQ Standardbred Horse Adoption Program. The SAQ also runs and sponsors many shows, events and clinics; shares the success stories and actively promotes the attributes of the breed. SAQ is actively educating the community about the various life beyond racing options, the versatility of use, and the appropriate care and retraining of Standardbred racehorses. Read more about SAQ

Racing Queensland is proud to sponsor the Track to Hack Series. Read the report and view photos from the 2019 Track to Hack series HERE
