Racing Queensland Limited, the control body responsible for administering thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing in Queensland is about to undertake a major overhaul of its tracks and clubs across the state.
A recent review of racing venues has highlighted a need to upgrade existing facilities as well as making better use of available land.
Numerous racecourses across the state require urgent repair with many presenting occupational health and safety risks.
Clubs are also struggling with a downturn in attendance as a result of public facilities being less than optimal.
As a result, Racing Queensland Limited has developed an Industry Infrastructure Plan focusing on creating sustainability of racing within Queensland. The Plan is a blueprint for modernising racing across the state and when implemented will deliver an upgrade to facilities located in key provincial racing areas.
The Plan will provide the single biggest capital injection that racing has ever witnessed. It will replace tired facilities with modern infrastructure such as back to back greyhound and harness tracks ensuring maximum use of public facilities. The development will also encourage jobs for Queenslanders during the construction and well into the future.
The content of the Plan is provided for information purposes and Racing Queensland Limited reserves its right to make any amendments to the Plan. Whilst reasonable care has been exercised in the preparation of all the material in the Plan, Racing Queensland Limited does not accept any liability to any person for the information contained herein.
Support for the creation of new multi-use venues along with moves to make strategic use of other long-held facilities offer our best odds to ensure the three codes that make up the racing industry in Queensland not only survive, they thrive.
