Cairns project business case lodged with Treasury

28 November 2011

Racing Queensland officials met with members of the Cairns Jockey Club committee to further progress the Industry Infrastructure Plan works at Cannon Park.

The key objective of the meeting was to review the scope of works, proposed timelines and budgets for this project and to brief a number of local civil contractors about the project and the construction methodology required to be utilised.

Racing Queensland is in the process of finalising the business case to seek final Government approval and it is anticipated that this will be lodged by December 11, 2011, enabling Racing Queensland to tender the Cairns work early in the New Year.

Upon the completion of the tender process a thorough works schedule will be developed in consultation with the Cairns Jockey Club and local stakeholders, which will provide a detailed overview of the impact of these works on the  racing and training activities at the facility.

4 November 2011

RQL is in the final stages of compiling the Cairns project business case to be lodged with the Office of Racing for their review.
