FOND MEMORIES (2) can look to build off her last start victory when returning from a freshen. Sent on a NSW Oaks campaign, she missed out on the final and followed that with 2nd placed efforts at Menangle. Too smart for them here last week when finishing best from the 2nd line, she looks tough to stop.
WHICH HUNT (3) will take good benefit from her latest run when 1st up this year. Sent for a break after finishing down the line back in December, she was snagged back from gate 7 here last start. Looking for short-cuts, she didn’t see much space in a tidy effort behind FOND MEMORIES.
HIGH ON MONTANA (8) wasn’t suited when taking on an Aspirational last start and facing the breeze faded out under the pressure over the 2138m trip. With a softer trip on offer in easier company here, he can poke through to place.
NIFTY STUDLEIGH (5) was sent to park outside the leader and winner ALBION ARK last start, only fading late in a strong last 600m. The gate makes it tricky again, but he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: FOND MEMORIES (2), WHICH HUNT (3), HIGH ON MONTANA (8), NIFTY STUDLEIGH (5)
CHAMONIX (6) will take good benefit from his race debut last start when finishing runner-up to AYE AYE CAPTAIN. Eased back from this same gate before making a wide run to grab the silver, it was a nice starting point for his race career. With the added experience, he can go one better.
UNCLE SHANK (8) is a Warrawee Needy colt on debut for Chantal Turpin that comes from a strong maternal family. Taking on older horses in his qualifying trial, he was never taken off the helmet of the horse in front when running sharp time. He will need a slice of luck from this gate, but looks to have his share of ability.
FRONTLINER (5) was 3rd on debut behind AYE AYE CAPTAIN, hitting the line in nice style in the closing stages. With the added benefit of his 1st outing, he can feature again here.
NICKS PICK (9) is a Changeover gelding on debut for Darren Weeks, out for the form handy race mare Rowan Franco. Given 2 trials in readiness for his 1st outing, he stays under notice in the market here.
SELECTIONS: CHAMONIX (6), UNCLE SHANK (8), FRONTLINER (5), NICKS PICK (9)
SUGGESTED BET: CHAMONIX (6) to win
MAJESTIC SIMON (10) will need to overcome the 30m tape, but it is an impost he has been able to overcome before. Winning the McNeil Final when charging home to victory over this trip from this same mark 2 starts back, he made a costly error last time. With an ounce of luck, he can arrive here.
HAVANA MAGIC (6) shoots for a hat-trick of victories after wins at the longer 2647m and then last start at the 2138m. Sent forward to work in each of those runs, she was able to assume control last start and then hold on for a narrow victory. Needing to step it up another notch, she can make the rise.
LAVROS SEGIL (3) went to the pegs last start from his 10m tape and when seeing space in the stretch was attacking the line hard to get within a half-neck of the prize. Only 3m from MUSCULUS 3 starts back, he has podium claims again.
SKYLINE (8) has claimed the bronze at his past 2 starts, the latest when closing nicely to be 2m in arrears of the winner HAVANA MAGIC. Meeting her on level terms here after giving away 10m to her last start, he can feature.
SELECTIONS: MAJESTIC SIMON (10), HAVANA MAGIC (6), LAVROS SEGIL (3), SKYLINE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJESTIC SIMON (10) to win
Deserted by luck last start, MUSCULUS (5) was a real eye-catcher, threading a passage between runners after finding himself buried in transit. Zig-zagging up the stretch, he grabbed the silver when 2m in arrears of the winner SPIRIT WALKER. Back to the 2138m here is a big plus and he can atone for the last start disappointment.
JEDDY R YA READY (6) was only 5m from the winner last start when trying to make a closing play. Only 2m away here 2 starts back when obliged to lead the one wide line, it was a good run in an unsuitable position. With the right cart into the contest, he can issue the challenge.
MONORAIL (3) is a great beginner and from the front tape can look to step into the lamp lighting duties here. Grabbed late last start over the 2647m, he will appreciate the return to the middle distance and getting forward early can feature.
SIR FAHRENHEIT (8) makes his Aus debut for Donny Smith and arrives the winner of 8 with a further 9 minor placings. Shooting for a hat-trick after successive wins in the South Island of NZ, he stays under notice.
SELECTIONS: MUSCULUS (5), JEDDY R YA READY (6), MONORAIL (3), SIR FAHRENHEIT (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MUSCULUS (5) to win
BLACKJACK BART (2) will take benefit from his return to the track here last week to kick-off his 3YO term. Finding the front over the sprint trip, he was able to walk the 2nd split before dialling it up. Headed on the home bend when only beaten an eyelash by GINGER MICKY, he can look to bounce back here.
REDS GOOD TO GO (1) did it the tough way outside BLACKJACK BART last start when grinding away to be 6m in arrears of the winner GINGER MICKY. Holding on to score when finding his race here 2 starts back, he can secure the right trip to issue a closing challenge.
CHANCELESS CENTURY (9) finally broke the maiden tag last start when finding his race at Redcliffe and duly saluting at a prohibitive red figure quote. Warming up to that win, he can get the right early trail here and look to chime in.
THE MONEY BALL (6) was eased from this gate last start and then was hitting the line in nice style to be 7m from the winner. He will be back in the pack again as he looks to charge home late.
SELECTIONS: BLACKJACK BART (2), REDS GOOD TO GO (1), CHANCELESS CENTURY (9), THE MONEY BALL (6)
SUGGESTED BET: BLACKJACK BART (2) to win
ARTHUR LOWE (5) was beaten by the gate last start, forced to snag back from gate 7 to find position he was just too far back in the pack over the 2138m to get into the contest. That followed a similar result where he was just too far back to offer when hitting the line strongly. The smaller field should suit and he can cash-in here.
IM MAJOR HARRY (8) eased back from gate 5 last start before working home in good order to be 7m from the dictating winner, BLADE. 4 starts back he grabbed silver when within 2m of the in-form MAJOR CURRENCY and with the options to ease away from the pegs as the lone 2nd line runner, he can challenge.
SIR JULIAN (7) doesn’t have any favours from this gate but he is a consistent type that is never far from the action. 3rd behind MACEY JAYDE here 2 starts back, he was luckless last start when hampered behind a tiring runner. He won’t be far away.
SABRAGE (4) faded in the closing stages last start after racing tough in the breeze. Locked away against the poles the start prior, limiting the early burn to find position, he has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: ARTHUR LOWE (5), IM MAJOR HARRY (8), SIR JULIAN (7), SABRAGE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: ARTHUR LOWE (5) to win
This shapes as a great contest with winning form around a few of these. GINGER MICKY (5) broke through for victory last start after a 3YO term where he went winless, placing in 4 of his 8 outings. Starting from the 2nd line, he finished best to score a narrow victory. Fitter for the run, he can challenge again.
CAUTIVAR (7) secured the 1x1 trail here on Thursday from gate 6 when driven patiently to have the closing shot at the leader. With too much finishing power, he arrived to claim a smart victory. That followed an eye catcher at Redcliffe when 2nd to ETERNAL PROMISE and if able to secure position cheaply, he can swoop hard.
TRUE STEPPER (1) has returned in great order this season and will be further tightened from her latest win when proving too tough in claiming a 5m victory. With the options from this gate, she is a threat.
MILLWOOD TILLY (2) has speed off the arm and from this gate can fire the 1st shot. Probing for an opening last start from inside the 2nd line, she didn’t really have a decent shot at them. Look for a sharper effort with the mile trip a big plus.
SELECTIONS: GINGER MICKY (5), CAUTIVAR (7), TRUE STEPPER (1), MILLWOOD TILLY (2)
SLICE OF HEAVEN (6) was strong to the line in the closing stages last start, running some smart closing splits to be mid-field behind the passing lane winner CLARKEY, 7m in arrears. Folding after facing the breeze in a sharp mile the start prior, the return to Tuesday class in this line-up looks ideal and he can defy the wide gate to arrive.
MACEY JAYDE (10) made a mess of things in the early stages 2 starts back and was banished to the outside draw as a result. Despite starting from this gate last start over the mile, she still had bullets to fire in the stretch in claiming a 3m victory. With the tempo on, look for her swooping late.
VINNY CHASE (7) started from gate 6 over the 2138m trip last start when sent forward and pressing on to find the front then kept them rolling to take the prize. The gate hurts but the return to the mile is in his favour.
FEELINGFORARAINBOW (8) has wins in 4 of his past 6 starts, the latest when claiming a qualifier after pressing on to take control. Needing a slice of luck from this gate, he will be probing for space.
SELECTIONS: SLICE OF HEAVEN (6), MACEY JAYDE (10), VINNY CHASE (7), FEELINGFORARAINBOW (8)
SUGGESTED BET: SLICE OF HEAVEN (6) to win
