RACE TWO

ARBIT MAJOR (4) used some petrol in working forward to find the front last start over the sprint trip and with the tempo on battled home into 3rd. That followed an impressive AP run behind PELOSI after making an error and losing a stack of ground. Limiting the early burn, he can look to atone.

MAFFIOSO GIRL (3) was too classy against mares only here 3 starts back when sent forward from the 2nd line to take control and power home to a 16m victory. Grabbed late after sent to the post as fav in a heat 2 starts back, the tempo was against her in the final. From the gate she can fire the 1st shot and give them something to chase.

TAYLOR HOOD (8) used the inside gate to advantage last start from gate 1 in looking to take them all the way. Unable to fight them off, it had followed a tough run over the AP mile. With the right early trail, he is in the mix.

DIAMONDSFROMHEAVEN (1) will take further benefit from her latest start when 2nd up from a spell. Both return runs have been from tough gates and with the benefit of an improved alley can chime in.

SELECTIONS: ARBIT MAJOR (4), MAFFIOSO GIRL (3), TAYLOR HOOD (8), DIAMONDSFROMHEAVEN (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-8

RACE THREE

LIFES BLACK (3) took a few starts to wind up this prep, but has turned the corner with wins at his past 3 in succession. After claiming a 1 lap scamper in a Trot Rods heat, he then went to AP where he attacked the line with gusto over the mile to score a smart win. Arriving off the track last start for a stylish victory in good time, he can add to the tally again.

HEART OF COOPER (1) has been kept fresh since his last outing when a beaten fav and finishing runner-up to GUPTAS CULLEN over the 2040m. That followed a mid-field finish at his Qld debut after looking for short-cuts over the AP mile. With the options from this gate, he can challenge.

THREO (4) set the tempo in a conditioned band 5 race 2 starts back, when folding late after the expense of a sub 27 opening panel proved too great. Only 5m away last start, he can fire the 1st shot here and is a podium hope.

GUPTAS CULLEN (8) was tough in the breeze last start and went to the line fighting when 3rd to MIDNIGHT MAN. Facing tough barriers in recent starts, she can’t be ignored.

SELECTIONS: LIFES BLACK (3), HEART OF COOPER (1), THREO (4), GUPTAS CULLEN (8)
SUGGESTED BET: LIFES BLACK (3) to win

RACE FOUR

MONTANA EXPRESS (6)
continues to be kept in the outside gates as a result of his starting manners, however he has been racing well and looks to have found a winnable contest here. A winner here 3 starts back when working home from back in the pack to score over the sprint trip, he was just too far back last time. He can arrive.

BE ON THE SLY (1) was wide off the track last start when working home after starting from gate 6 over the 2040m trip. Eased back from gate 5 the start prior, he was trying to work into it late when finishing mid-field. With the gate improvement, he can be much sharper in this.

BELLA BLONDIE (7) led them up here 3 starts back and was gripping on late when falling 3m short of the prize. Claiming 3rd at her next outing, she can get an easy ride here and look to offer when the gaps arrive.

ITSMEGS (3) returns from a spell and will be 1st up since October. Opening the pipes with a tidy trial, she was clashing with better company last campaign and can feature here at her return.

SELECTIONS: MONTANA EXPRESS (6), BE ON THE SLY (1), BELLA BLONDIE (7), ITSMEGS (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MONTANA EXPRESS (6) to win

RACE FIVE

HALF MOON BEACH (2) has been runner-up at 3 of his past 4 starts, the latest at Marburg when forced to race tough outside the leader over the 1850m trip. In for the fight he was no match for the dictating winner, but held the rest of the field off to claim 2nd. 1st to the pegs, he will take some catching.

BARBOO (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start and using the passing lane was 5m from the winner SWEET JASMINE. Chasing home behind MO JARNEY the start prior, he can secure the soft trip again from this gate and saved for a closing shot can make it a winning one.

DESPONDENT (8) will make his Qld debut for Shane Fraser and will be 1st up since November without a public trial.  Approaching 12 months since his last victory, he stays under notice in this.

MISTER DECORUM (4) is on the short 1day back-up after looking a winning chance at Marburg on Sunday. 3m from the winner here 2 starts back after taking the pocket trail, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: HALF MOON BEACH (2), BARBOO (1), DESPONDENT (8), MISTER DECORUM (4)
SUGGESTED BET: HALF MOON BEACH (2) to win

RACE SIX

PERFECT FEELING (2) was sent to the post as fav last start from gate 1 and led them up over the sprint trip. In a slogging go to the post, he was nabbed on the line, beaten a neck. He lands the gate to take advantage of his early speed and with the absence of pressure, can look to see it out.

CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3) secured the pocket trail over the longer 2040m trip last start and with a clearer passage may have been able to finish a little closer than she did. Sent to the front over this trip from this gate 3 starts back, she set the speed when holding on for the silver. She can feature again.

THE LAST DRAGON (7) will need a slice of luck as he looks set to be locked away, however with the cosy trip can be searching for gaps to chime in late. Finishing best last start to nab PERFECT FEELING on the line, he will be probing.

ALL MADNESS (6) was sent forward from gate 6 last start and did plenty of work in the run which saw him fade. This might be a shade easier and limiting the burn can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: PERFECT FEELING (2), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3), THE LAST DRAGON (7), ALL MADNESS (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

PATCHWORK JET (7) will need some factors to fall in his favour here, but with the soft trip can looks to get his chance in this contest. Not really suited last start in a Trot Rods heat, he set the tempo the start prior from gate 5 and only faded the closing stages. Saved for the closing shot, he will be coiled and ready to strike.

BERTILS DELIGHT (1) worked to the front over the 2040m trip last start before opting for cover. From the pocket trail she couldn’t go with them in the latter stages when fading out. Back to the sprint trip suits and using her early speed, looks to get her chance to bounce back into the winners circle.

GETINANHANGON (8) did it hard when sent to the breeze last start at Marburg over the 1850m. In a solidly run trip, he was in for the fight when only 2m from the winner NEWMERELLA MOLLY. He is in the mix here.

ELSIES GIRL (3) held the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line and finished just in behind them last start behind CHANCELESS CENTURY. Early position will be key to her chances and she is a place chance.

SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (7), BERTILS DELIGHT (1), GETINANHANGON (8), ELSIES GIRL (3)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

MISTER FAHRENHEIT (3) found the right conditions to break his maiden here 3 starts back when capitalising on gate 1 over the sprint trip. Easily holding the front, he walked them early before turning it into a last stanza sizzle. Well held his past 2 at AP, the return to the triangle is a big plus and he can look to dictate.

INCITER (6) doesn’t have any favours from the wide gate here, but might just appreciate this opposition. Forced to do it the tough way last start when fading under a sharp 1780m, he was only grabbed in the latter stages when leading them up here 2 starts back. He will be in for the fight here.

WILLSINTOWN (8) was soon locked away on the pegs last start from inside the 2nd line and didn’t really get into the contest. Too far back the start prior, with even luck he can chime in here.

SCHOOBY (4) had to work hard last start in a Trot Rods heat and the power running effort took its toll. Making an error the start prior, if he can limit the work load, he can be sharper here.

SELECTIONS: MISTER FAHRENHEIT (3), INCITER (6), WILLSINTOWN (8), SCHOOBY (4)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER FAHRENHEIT (3) to win
