Trainer Tony Gollan is likely to press on with interstate plans for Ef Troop despite the gelding’s shock defeat in his comeback at Doomben on Saturday.

Ef Troop, ridden by Brad Stewart, couldn’t muster early speed under his big weight of 60kgs and was trapped three and four wide before finishing a gallant second to outsider Mittere in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1100m).

Despite his wide passage Ef Troop still managed to get within three-quarters of a length of Mittere with a similar margin to third placegetter, Aileach.

It was Ef Troop’s first run since finishing 12th to Estijaab in the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill in April.

Gollan had earmarked the big spring carnivals in Sydney or Melbourne for Ef Troop but wanted to see how he performed in his return before finalising an interstate campaign.

“I’ll see how he pulls up before making a decision but you can’t win races sitting three and four deep,” Gollan said.

Winning trainer Danny Bougoure pulled a master strike by adding blinkers to Mittere following his two placings this campaign at Grafton and Ballina.

“Everything fell into place with him today and it was his first run in blinkers,” Bougoure said.

“He had been a bit wayward before but he’s always shown me a lot of ability.

“Ef Troop had no luck in the run and I wouldn’t be dropping off him after that run.”

Meanwhile Gollan predicted talented filly Shesees Everything was a future Stakes winner after the filly stormed home to down stablemate My Girl Hayley by three-quarters of a length in the Fillies & Mares Class Six Plate (1200m).

Shesees Everything set a new class record with a sizzling 1min 8.57s which shaved 0.09 seconds off the previous record set in 2015 by stablemate Satirical Lass.

Shesees Everything is eligible for the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast in January after being sold for $75,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions sales.

The daughter of Star Witness has missed a place only twice in her 11-start career which has produced three wins and six placings.

“She was still learning what it was all about early on in her career and we were learning about her,” Gollan said.

“She showed speed early on but she’s better ridden quiet.

“She was a big yearling but her best racing is definitely ahead of her and I think she can win Black-Type at some stage in the next year.”

Gollan has the option of heading to Sydney with Shesees Everything but is likely to concentrate on Stakes race during the Brisbane summer carnival.
