One of 2018’s most popular television personalities, Norm Hogan from Channel 9’s The Block will take on three lucky punters in a dual-seated sulky race on Queensland Cup Night at Albion Park this Saturday.

Hogan has a lifelong association with the harness code through his father, trainer Hayden Hogan, and has joined Racing Queensland as an ambassador for the 2018 TAB Queensland Summer Carnival.

He will be on-course to meet and greet punters, take part in the sulky race and spread the good word about harness racing to attract new fans to the sport.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would appear on The Block, let alone be asked to act as an ambassador for a sport I love,” Hogan said.

“I’m chuffed and really looking forward to help promoting harness racing and hope to see plenty of fans coming through the gates.”

Hogan continues to dabble in ownership and recently bred a foal with a mare he once raced.

“I’ve had trotters all my life,” he said.

“There was one horse I owned that had 25 other people in it and we had some great times travelling to race meetings to watch the horse race. I’ve definitely had a heap of fun with harness racing.”

Queensland Cup night is the grand finale of the Summer Carnival at Albion Park and includes the G2 DJA Memorial Trotting Championship.

Queensland’s reigning Horse of the Year Colt Thirty One will be the headline act as he chases his 20th Albion Park victory in the G2 Queensland Cup.
