RACE TWO

RUN BOY RUN (1) has been screaming out for a gate and finally has conditions to suit here. After a string of poor gates, he finally landed a decent marble 2 starts back, but found a race with superior speed inside, yet he was game in defeat from the breeze. All the factors look in his favour here.

BALLACHULISH (9) made his AP debut last week for the visiting Morris team, when he was away from inside the 2nd line early and working in the run over the 2138m saw him fade in the closing stages. Only a half-neck away the start prior at Menangle, he will be in the fight here.

MUCH BETTOR (5) speared out from gate 6 over the 2138m last start to take control and dictating in front was able to rip home in 27.6 to claim the prize. Despite the gate he will be in the mix here.

FLYING WINGARD (10) started from gate 9 last start and settling 1x2 couldn’t work into it with the leader and winner SABRAGE controlling the tempo. A winner at his previous 2, he can chime into the exotics.

SELECTIONS: RUN BOY RUN (1), BALLACHULISH (9), MUCH BETTOR (5), FLYING WINGARD (10)
SUGGESTED BET: RUN BOY RUN (1) to win

RACE THREE

MONTANA CHIEF (8) has been devoid of luck in recent starts, but on Wed night at Redcliffe was able to make his own luck out in front, running home a tidy closing 800m to take the prize. Following the likely leader off the gate, he can be in the snipers seat ready to pull the trigger in the stretch.

THATS HOW WEROLL (4) took on the Members Cup last week and settling in the running line, the tempo from the front made it impossible for anything chasing. He closed out hard the start prior when sent to the post as fav and finding position cheaply will be swooping home hard.

IM MAJOR HARRY (1) took them all the way in a 2nd division qualifier 4 starts back at Redcliffe and placed his next 2 from wider gates. His run in the Members Cup had merit and he will be gripping on here.

RECIPE FOR DREAMING (2) worked across to find the front last start over the sprint trip and was only grabbed in the closing strides. With a 75% top-3 strike rate this term, he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: MONTANA CHIEF (8), THATS HOW WEROLL (4), IM MAJOR HARRY (1), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (2)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-4-8

RACE FOUR

JUST DEAL IT (9)
looked to have found her chance last start when landing gate 1 over the mile in a mares qualifier. Taking charge with ease in front, she was able to get a lungful of air through the 2nd panel, yet was worried out of it on the wire, beaten a head. Despite the gate she can arrive this time.

STEVIE DEE (1) is on the back-up from Thursday at Redcliffe where she had also landed the ace and looked a good chance of taking a winning shot. Luckless here 3 starts back over this trip when locked away from inside the 2nd line, she can settle one spot closer here and be ready to fire a closing shot.

PAY ME INTEREST (8) had to snag back from gate 7 last week over the mile and was too far back then to offer. Beaten an eyelash here 2 starts back, she will be probing for gaps to close hard.

MY DESIGN (12) arrives for the Jones/Goadsby team as a travelling companion and lands the visitors gate for her trouble. Tough in the breeze last start at Tamworth, she won her previous 2 and has claims.

SELECTIONS: JUST DEAL IT (9), STEVIE DEE (1), PAY ME INTEREST (8), MY DESIGN (12),
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

This race has really opened right up with the preferred NR draw, seeing all the power drawn out the back. Taking on the FFA ranks in recent starts, FAME ASSURED (12) when back from gate 7 in the BGJ last week, she punched the pegs home to be within 5m of the winner MATTGREGOR. Back to mares only, she can sprout the wings needed here.

SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (10) should also appreciate the return to mares only after some great runs against the ‘big boys’ in recent starts. A winner when leading all the way over the 2138m 3 starts back, gate 12 ended her hopes last week. With even luck in transit she can throw down the challenge.

BALLERINA COURU (9) faces the biggest test of her career and will need a few factors in her favour here. Taking them all the way last start to score a nice win, if she gets the right trail she is in the mix.

JOSSIE JAMES (11) faces a tough ask 1st up from a spell here. 2 starts back she scorched the stretch to claim a 1.51.4 mile after a soft trip, and securing a cosy run in transit here is her go. Look for the swoop.

SELECTIONS: FAME ASSURED (12), SMOOTH SHOWGIRL (10), BALLERINA COURU (9), JOSSIE JAMES (11)
SUGGESTED BET: FAME ASSURED (12) to win

RACE SIX

CLINTAL DO (2) has faced the starter on 3 occasions over the long trip with a win in the Redcliffe Gold Cup in those 3. He was always facing a task last week in the Be Good Johnny when landing gate 11. A winner 3 starts back over the 2138m, limiting the early work can see him have bullets to fire late.

MACH ALERT (3) has been returning some great runs of late, blissfully unaware that he is a 12YO. He sprinted sharply to arrive over the mile 2 starts back and last week was again closing hard when 3m from MATTGREGOR to grab 3rd. Tag and release in the early stages might be his play here and he is a big threat.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (10) is a big query at the trip, with his best form at the mile and middle trip. Not far away but realistically a couple of lengths off his best, he can use this to recapture some form.

MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (11) has been in great touch but is another that the 13-furlong trip asks some questions. Making the most of the gaps to arrive over the mile last start, look for him swooping.

SELECTIONS: CLINTAL DO (2), MACH ALERT (3), GLENFERRIE HOOD (10), MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (11)
SUGGESTED BET: CLINTAL DO (2) to win

RACE SEVEN

It was a nice return to the track following a spell by NORTHERN MUSCLE (10) in the first-round heats and with the added fitness, he should take great benefit from the run. Working forward from the 20m tape, he worked hard in the run and was game in finishing 5m from EMPIRE BAY. He can build again here.

GEE UP NEDDY (8) continued his superb form and from the 10m tape will again be a major player in this heat. Pressing forward and forcing his way to the front last week, he was never troubled thereafter in holding them out. A winner at 4 of his past 5, he is the one they need to beat again.

WEE MAN TROUBLE (3) will strip fitter after his run last week when making his Aus debut. Locked away on the poles, he secured an easy trip and was strong to the line. He can podium again here.

ALS LAW (2) might have found the longer trip a little tougher last week and should appreciate the shorter distance this week. With good early manners, he can settle handy early and offer late.

SELECTIONS: NORTHERN MUSCLE (10), GEE UP NEDDY (8), WEE MAN TROUBLE (3), ALS LAW (2)
SUGGESTED BET: NORTHERN MUSCLE (10) to win

RACE EIGHT

CLARRY (5) has a good record at the middle-distance and after 3 runs since returning from a luckless NSW campaign, has shown he is ready to hit-back with a win. Last week over the sprint trip he eased back from gate 4 before hitting the line hard to be 3.5m from the winner. Up to the 2138m, he can pounce on them.

SEEUINNASHVILLE (1) started fav from this gate last start and after opting for the trail, played all the right notes to arrive up the passing lane. That followed a win over this trip when finishing over the top to grab SECRETAGENT TYCOON. With the options again, he can throw down the challenge.

CASINO TOMMY (2) was mighty brave in defeat last start when forced to tour the Creek 3-wide the last lap when the breeze was denied. Only beaten 2m, it was a nice effort and he will be hard to stop.

INVINCIBLE LOXTON (4) wasn’t suited last start when drawn inside the 2nd line over the sprint trip and under the circumstances it was a tidy effort. Better suited at this trip, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: CLARRY (5), SEEUINNASHVILLE (1), CASINO TOMMY (2), INVINCIBLE LOXTON (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CLARRY (5) to win

RACE NINE

MIRACLE RISING (9) pressed forward in the first-round heat over the long trip and was able to take up the lamp lighting duties. After a steady opening 800 of the last mile, the tempo raised to a 28.1 3rd panel, but he was rundown late up the passing lane by REIGN ON ME. He should get his chance.

EMPIRE BAY (10) showed last week why he is going to play such a role in this Series. Safely away from the 30m, he found the running line and when asked to produce, pounced on them to arrive for a smart 3m victory. Shooting for the hat-trick, the shorter trip makes it harder, but he is in the zone.

REIGN ON ME (3) kicked off her Qld campaign in fine style last week when claiming victory. Stepping cleanly before taking the trail, she had too much to offer. Fitter fir the outing, look for a repeat.

IM THE COMMANDO (2) is always a risk and last week he showed that when making a mess of things in the early stages and ending his hopes. If he gets it right early over this trip, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: MIRACLE RISING (9), EMPIRE BAY (10), REIGN ON ME (3), IM THE COMMANDO (2)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TEN

ANY OLD WAY (6) will take a great deal of benefit from his run in the first-round heats when he was stepping out for the 1st time in 12 months. Stepping cleanly to find the trail it was the perfect trip for such a long time off, finishing 3m in arrears of EMPIRE BAY. He has the manners to be a big factor.

PRINCESS KENNY (2) got it all wrong last week, when she was fizzed up prior to the race and that told when making an uncharacteristic gait break. That had followed 4 successive wins to start the season and with the added week to acclimatise here in Qld, look for the real Princess to step out.

OUR OVERANOVA (10) was hitting the line hard last week and was able to run GEE UP NEDDY to a 2m margin. The middle distance is always tougher off the bigger impost, but never discount him.

CLOVER MAC (9) was a nice run under the circumstances after making a mess of things early and facing a task thereafter. If he can get it right this time, look for him chiming into the action.

SELECTIONS: ANY OLD WAY (6), PRINCESS KENNY (2), OUR OVERANOVA (10), CLOVER MAC (9)
SUGGESTED BET: ANY OLD WAY (6) to win
