Classy mare Bettorthanspecial will remain in Brisbane.

For the time being anyway.

The highly decorated mare is an early scratching from the Gr.3 $40,800 Cordina Family Sibelia Stakes at TABCORP Park, Menangle on Saturday night owing to a routine blood test taken earlier this week.

Prepared by Shannon Price and Scott Miller, the proven Group One winner resumed with an eye-catching fifth placing behind Glenferrie Hood in last Saturday night’s WCF Team Teal Open Pace at Albion Park in a time of 1:55.4.

The Bettors Delight mare was being aimed at the Gr.1 $200,000 Ladyship Mile on February 24, an event she was third in last year behind star mares A Piccadilly Princess and Frith in a time of 1:50.4.

“We were very happy with the effort last week, the draw was tricky and then there was little or no mid-race pressure but we were thrilled with the way she attacked the line. As always, we pulled a blood just to make sure everything was in order before leaving and we weren’t satisfied with the results so we’ve taken her out.” Co-trainer Miller said.

A return trip south is still be considered for next week’s Gr.3 $40,800 Garrard’s Robin Dundee Stakes, the final lead-up for the Ladyship Mile the following week.

Bettorthanspecial remains in full-work and will be monitored over the coming days before a decision is likely to be made across the weekend.

Star mares aiming at the Ladyship Mile include A Golden Goddess and Ameretto from the stables of Kerryn Manning while the Mark Purdon/Natalie Rasmussen stablemates A Piccadilly Princess and Partyon are also likely starters.

New Zealand mare Delishka is also looking likely following her impressive display last weekend when recording a time of 1:52.8 at Menangle.
