Following the partial abandonment of the Ipswich TC race meeting on Saturday 13 January, RQ has given consideration to the potential rescheduling the (remainder of) the race meeting and/or the possibility for the need to program additional races in SEQ in the next 7-10 days.
Given however the currently prescribed programs offer sufficient alternative opportunities, the decision has been made by RQ to add the following race to the program for Ipswich TC race meeting on Wednesday 17 January:
- Open Handicap – 1350m , $20,000
Trainers should note that this is a new race & accordingly there will be a requirement to nominate/accept for it, irrespective of whether a previous engagement was held at the aforementioned abandoned ITC meeting. Nominations/acceptances for this race specifically will close at 11:00am, Monday 15 January.
All other conditions pertaining to the Ipswich TC meeting on Wednesday 17 January remain as were previously published, with acceptances for all other races closing at 9:30am, Monday 15 January.
RQ will also, as a consequence of the ITC race meeting abandonment, look to adopt an aggressive approach to the potential division of races in SEQ within the next week should acceptance levels deem it appropriate.
Further, under the auspices of the RQ Race/Race Meeting Abandonment Policy, the connections of those horses denied the opportunity to race at the abandoned meeting will be entitled to compensation.
