Talented filly Snicki Minaj booked a Sydney trip for the Inglis Classic in three weeks with an all-the-way win at Doomben on Saturday.

Having only her second race start, Snicki Minaj proved a lucky pick up ride for jockey Ron Stewart and easily disposed of her opposition to down Clockwise by three lengths in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110m).

Stewart replaced the indisposed Brad Stewart.

Snicki Minaj was an unlucky seventh, beaten three lengths by stablemate Outback Barbie, when she debuted in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Doomben on December 16.

Outback Barbie subsequently franked the form when third to Sunlight in last week’s $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast.

Despite her solid first-up performance, the daughter of Hinchinbrook drifted alarmingly in the betting but still started a $3.10 favourite.

Snicki Minaj was bought for $25,000 as a yearling at the Inglis Classic sales in Sydney and will now be sent south for the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 9.

Premier trainer Tony Gollan believes Snicki Minaj has a bright future and worthy of an interstate trip.

“She’s a very professional filly,” Gollan said.

“Her first start was excellent after she got into trouble early on in the Calaway Gal.

“She’s only small but it doesn’t matter as she gets out and relaxes well.

“It was a soft win in the end.”

Snicki Minaj is raced by several syndicates who took shares in the filly after new syndication company, Boom Racing Thoroughbreds bought her.

“Boom Racing bought her and it was their first foray into racing,” Gollan said.

“And what a nice foray it’s been.

“She’ll have her next run in the Inglis Classic in Sydney in three weeks.”

Stewart predicted a bright future for Snicki Minaj whose mother Mezmar was a five times winner from 52 starts.

“It was unfortunate for Brad (Stewart) that he couldn’t ride her but she’s bomb proof to ride,” Stewart said.

“There was some pressure on her early but she did it well and she’ll be even better over further.”
