Racing Queensland advises that the Townsville greyhound meeting for Tuesday 5 February 2019 has been cancelled.
The Townsville Greyhound Racing Club inspected the track today and advised that significant sections of the track had been washed away after days of heavy rainfall. Racing Queensland and QRIC agreed to cancel the meeting given the prediction of further heavy rainfall until at least Tuesday next week which will not allow the opportunity for remedial work to take place on the track.
Racing Queensland will offer a once-off travel subsidy of $150 for North Queensland trainers (post code 4800 or higher) that travel to Rockhampton to participate in the race meeting on Wednesday 6 February 2019. The payment of $150 will be in addition to appearance fees and any prizemoney earned.
Racing Queensland will continue to monitor the situation with the Townsville meeting scheduled for 12 February 2019 and will update participants accordingly.
