Racing Queensland’s new program ‘The Driver’s Seat’ returns this weekend for the first leg of the $100,000 UBET Grand Slam Bonuses, featuring the G2 Sunshine Sprint at Albion Park in Brisbane.

The show can be viewed on Racing Queensland social media channel, Puntersland, and will feature full analysis of the meeting by harness experts Jason Bonnington and Darren Clayton.

Filmed at both a state-of-the-art studio and on track during race night, ‘The Driver’s Seat’ will give punters both hardened and new to harness racing a fresh perspective on the UBET Queensland Winter Carnival.

Racing Queensland Harness Development Strategy Manager, David Brick said the show had been well received and will continue through to UBET Blacks A Fake night.

“With Jason Bonnington’s in-depth knowledge of the sport both in Australia and internationally, coupled with Darren Clayton’s detailed insight of the local scene, the show will aim to give punters more reason to engage with the Queensland Winter Carnival,” Mr Brick said.

“The first episode and subsequent race night coverage at Redcliffe for the first Group 1 of the carnival was welcomed by social media audiences, and will be crucial to the further promotion of the carnival over the next fortnight.”

The UBET Grand Slam bonuses offer a $50,000 bonus for the connections of any horse that can win the UBET Blacks A Fake and Garrard’s Sunshine Sprint double.

There is also $15,000 on offer for any horse that can place in both – or win one and place in the other.

A trainer’s bonus of $20,000 is on offer for any trainer who wins two, or more, of the following;

  • Queensland Derby
  • UBET Blacks A Fake QLD Championship
  • Queensland Oaks
  • Queensland Trotters Cup

“These bonuses have helped attract some of Australasia’s best-performed horses and participants to the carnival, with the likes of Soho Tribeca, My Field Marshal, Michael Stanley, Tim Butt, the Turnbulls and Grant Dixon all set to feature throughout the carnival,” Mr Brick said.
