The first of the New Zealand raiders has been confirmed for the 2018 Queensland winter carnival.

Connections of Christchurch filly Sociable are looking at a raft of features culminating in the Queensland Oaks on July 14 at Albion Park.

Prepared by respected horseman Andrew Stuart, the three-year-old is unbeaten in two starts to date and will head to Australia this week.

Sociable will arrive in Melbourne this week (Wednesday) in preparation for the Victoria Oaks next month at TABCORP Park, Melton.

The filly will be based with John and Maree Caldow during her Melbourne stint.

“We think a fair bit of her obviously, the plan is to campaign in Victoria before heading up to Queensland for their carnival. Hopefully, we can do something similar like Nek Time from a few years back.” Stuart said.

A winner on debut at Wyndham on February 4 in 1:56.4 before venturing north to Auckland three weeks later when successful again in 2:02.1.

In her most recent victory, Sociable defied a pace bias before defeating older rivals in solid style.

“I thought she was quite impressive last start, the travel plus racing in the opposite direction while beating older types including male pacers was a good sign.

“We’ll give her a number of starts in Victoria with the Victoria the main target while all the features in Queensland will be considered.

“The Redcliffe, Provincial and Queensland Oaks will all be strongly considered. I think she has the makings of a nice filly so this campaign will hopefully bring her on a bit further.”

Sociable boasts a fascinating pedigree.

A daughter of unheralded stallion Buy Kiwi Made, the Presidential Ball entire ranks as a half-brother to former star mare Kiwi Ingenuity (11 wins - $523k).

But a major back injury as a young horse curtailed his racing career.

The filly is from the D M Dillinger mare Socialiser, Sociable is a half-sister to multiple Albion Park winner and now a member of the in-form Shane Tritton stable, Real Social.

Sociable starts at Maryborough on Friday afternoon, lining up in the Murray Borderliners Chapter Pace over 1690m, the filly has drawn inside the back-line.
