Just how good is sprint find Mr Marbellouz?

That’s the question everyone was asking after the Toowoomba sprinter scored another runaway win at Doomben on Saturday.

Trainer Kevin Kemp was reluctant to answer the question and was just happy to have the four-year-old in his stable.

Mr Marbellouz gave Kemp and apprentice Jag Guthmann-Chester the second leg of a double after the pair combined earlier to win with Plumaro in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200m).

Mr Marbellouz led all the way to register his fifth win in six starts with a decisive four length win over Mogador in the Carlton Mid Class Six Plate (1200m).

It was his first win at his first attempt over 1200 metres after scoring between 1000 and 1100 metres with margins of seven lengths, 9-1/4 lengths, three lengths and seven lengths.

His only defeat was at the end of his previous campaign when placed at Ipswich last August.

Kemp is in no rush to test Mr Marbellouz in open company and will take him through the grades before deciding his future.

“He’s doing everything right at the moment and he’s still only a class four horse,” Kemp said.

“I want to give him two more runs in Class Sixes before looking at anything in the winter.

“I’m not sure what races would suit him in the winter, maybe the Lightning.”

Meanwhile another Toowoomba sprinter Upstart Pride will be given his chance at successive Goldmarket Handicaps following his all the way win in the Tattersall’s Club Young Members’ Open Handicap (1200m).

One of two runners in the race for trainer Michael Nolan, Upstart Pride was never pressured in front before going on to down Il Mio Destino by two lengths.

Malvern Estate didn’t harm his chances for the Listed Goldmarket Handicap at the Gold Coast in two weeks with a game third, a long neck away.

Upstart Prince won last year's Goldmarket for Nolan who also created history in last year’s Weetwood Handicap when Jumbo Prince dead heated with Col ‘n’ Lil to claim the famous Darling Downs sprint.

Jumbo Prince showed he also was on target to defend his Weetwood crown with a strong first-up effort to finish sixth.

The six-year-old was having his first start since being placed in last year’s Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m) in July.

Upstart Pride’s win was his 10th from 40 starts and boosted his prizemoney to $550,150.
