They’re back!
Fresh from their brilliant summer carnival campaign back in December, the leading Sydney combination of Robbie Morris and KerryAnn Turner are headed back to the Sunshine State.
With the upcoming Bathurst Gold Crown carnival looming, the lack of metropolitan racing opportunities are scarce and therefore, the in-form duo will head north with a team of handy types.
Heading the raid will be talented former New Zealand pacer Celestial Arden, a winner of 5 of his 13 starts this season.
In his most recent start, the Rock N Roll Heaven gelding finished 4th behind outstanding pacer Franco Nelson in a brilliant time of 1:52.6 for the 2300m journey at TABCORP Park, Menangle last Saturday night.
“It’s a great opportunity to travel with him and give him further education, he’s done a remarkable job since crossing the ditch and the open class events up there will be his main focus. While it’s disappointing we don’t have metro racing for that two week period, it’s a great time to sneak away and earn for our connections.” Morris said.
The stable will target meetings at Albion Park on March 24 and 31.
During their December stint, the Menangle based couple won 8 races with 8 minor placings from their 21 starters.
The highlight was the Gr.2 $60,540 Queensland Cup won by Aztec Bromac.
As it stands, Turner is the leading trainer in New South Wales with 74 winners to date this season, 10 clear of nearest rival Steve Turnbull while Morris is currently sitting 4th in the State Drivers premiership with 48 winners.
“Yes we’re having a good run but we’re fortunate to have good owners and good staff, the two most important aspects of any leading stable.
“I enjoy going to Brisbane and I’m looking forward to our next trip, we’re stilling sorting out the entire team but we’ll have at least a team of seven which includes pacers and trotters.
“Our past couple of trips to Brisbane has been profitable and hopefully that good luck will continue.”
On Friday night, the stable will be represented by Robyns Bad Boy, Smokey Quartz, Come Cullect, Charlaval, Redbank Addi, Pharisee and Kleened Out at TABCORP Park, Menangle.
Stable favourite Aztec Bromac heads to Victoria this weekend and will start in the Gr.2 $70,000 Kilmore Pacing Cup on Saturday night.
