Talented young harness racing horseman, Ben Battle has moved his 'fledgling' training operation from Goulburn NSW to  just outside of Caboolture Qld, which is regarded as the gateway to the tourist playground, the Sunshine Coast.

He and fiancee Tamara have leased a well-appointed stables and training complex at Toorbul, previously occupied by highly successful horsewoman, Kylie Rasmussen.

Ben (24) is  confident that the move to Queensland will allow him to  establish a successful career as a 'full time' trainer and driver.

"Both Albion Park and Redcliffe tracks are within easy driving distance and racing opportunities at those tracks are plentiful," Ben stated.

"Already I have horses in the stable who I believe can pay their way, and hopefully I can attract a few more into the camp in the very near future.

"If I look after my horses, and their owners, then I believe that I am on the right path in my quest for success," he said.

Ben. a well-mannered and clean-cut young man, who hails from Lyndhurst in the central west of NSW, got 'hooked' on harness racing as a teenager. and learned the trade whilst employed as a stable hand with highly respected  Bathurst-based trainer, Bernie Hewitt.

Whilst learning the ropes, Ben posted his first win on 1st April 2015, at his first race drive, at Bathurst aboard the Bernie Hewitt trained 3 year old, Pass The Magic.

"Bernie was an awesome teacher and I have learned a lot from him," Ben said.

"I credit him with any success that I have had to date," he added.

After three and a half years in the Hewitt camp, Ben moved to Goulburn, where he trained a small team, whilst also working 'part time' for the Goulburn District Racing Club as a barrier attendant , to supplement his income.

Despite limited opportunities, his list of winners is growing, culminating with a winning double in his final NSW race appearance on Boxing Day, at Dubbo.

"I know that it is a pretty bold move to 'up sticks' and move to Queensland but it has always been my dream to become a professional trainer/driver and I am confident that in Queensland, I can do it.

"I am passionate about harness racing, and can't believe how happy I am, with my lovely fiancee Tamara by my side," he concluded.
