A tricky contest to open a rare Monday evening meeting at The Triangle. After bumping into some handy types at his past 3, MONTANA CHIEF (8) looks set to get the right type of trip from this gate. Only 4m in arrears of the in-form FEELINGFORARAINBOW 3 starts back, he has met SPEECH IS SILVER and TIZ A SIZZLER his past 2. A winner from this gate 4 starts back, look for him swooping to score.
THATS HOW WEROLL (3) was 1st up from a freshen last start when settling a long way back and facing a task as SPEECH IS SILVER loomed up and put the field away. Buried and looking for gaps that didn’t arrive the start prior, finding position will be key to his chances here and just needs early luck.
UNASSUMING CHAMP (5) has been runner-up here at his past 2 over this trip, the latest when gunned down after leading them up from gate 2. Working home nicely from this gate 2 starts back when 3m from the winner FIOKI, he can chime into the action.
EH EF EL (1) resumes from a spell and lines up for Team Graham for the 1st time. Well beaten last start over the AP mile, he has early speed and with a pipe-opening trial to prepare can feature.
SELECTIONS: MONTANA CHIEF (8), THATS HOW WEROLL (3), UNASSUMING CHAMP (5), EH EF EL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: MONTANA CHIEF (8) to win
BLUE MOON RISING (1) was sent forward form gate 6 last start and was doing some work before finally finding the breeze after 400m and then grabbing for the trail. Fading under the load behind PACIFIC DRUMS, he will be better suited here with a cosy trip and can take the snipers shot.
BURMACH (2) has placed at his past 5 starts in succession, the latest when doing it the hard way outside the leader and fighting into 3rd when 5m in arrears of the winner. Runner-up his previous 2 starts, he can look to fire off the arm here and in front can look to see it out.
ARBIT MAJOR (7) was forced to roll the sleeves last start in the slop when sent forward form gate 5 and fighting hard to hold the silver behind SHOWEM SIMON. At risk of being buried, he can stick to the inside and find the placings.
JUST DEAL IT (8) has been freshened since her last outing when mid-field in a strong mares race behind ETERNAL PROMISE. Having her 1st look at the triangle here, she can be closing hard.
SELECTIONS: BLUE MOON RISING (1), BURMACH (2), ARBIT MAJOR (7), JUST DEAL IT (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-7-8
CALLMEDEMARO (8) might just find this a shade easier than recent appearances at The Creek, the latest when not too far from the winner despite the result showing last. Eased to the pegs from gate 7 over the 2138m 3 starts back, he closed well when 8m from GODDESS JUJON. Pressing through early, he looks to get his chance.
FRENCH GLOBE (2) was snagged back from gate 4 last start to find the pegs and look for some luck and short-cuts, closing well to be 9m from the winner. Striking trouble the start prior, he can look to use his early speed and with the prevailing options available, will be right in the fight.
TAYLOR HOOD (6) doesn’t receive any favours from this alley, yet he has been in the money at over 50% of his runs here at the Peninsula. Sent forward and too strong for them here 3 starts back, he won’t be far way.
BILLBOARD BONNIE (4) will be approaching peak fitness after 4 runs back from a break, the latest when striking trouble in the run and back in the pack. Early position will be key to her chances.
SELECTIONS: CALLMEDEMARO (8), FRENCH GLOBE (2), TAYLOR HOOD (6), BILLBOARD BONNIE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CALLMEDEMARO (8) to win
MONTANA EXPRESS (6) was a long way back in the pack when the big winner GLENEAGLE WARRIOR pulled the trigger and darted clear of the pack. Setting out for the chase, he was the widest around the home turn and fought to claim the silver. A winner here 5 starts back, he strikes the right contest to add another win.
JUST ONE GOOD ONE (3) was closing strongly from the 2nd line over the AP mile 3 starts back to get within 2m of the winner. Forced to do it tough 2 starts back behind the smart 3YO FEARLESS FAITH, he was mid-field last time, again in a stronger line-up than he will meet here. This is within reach.
CANNAN (8) was snookered last start from inside the 2nd line and when he saw the space was hitting the line in nice order to be 5m in arrears. A winner here 2 starts back, he is in the mix again.
DEADLY ROCKER (5) found the 1x1 trail last start when looming up to make a challenge, only to be denied by a half-neck by the in-form CHUMP CHOP. Limiting the early burn, he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: MONTANA EXPRESS (6), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (3), CANNAN (8), DEADLY ROCKER (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MONTANA EXPRESS (6) to win
BLACKJEWEL (1) hasn’t been too far away of late and strikes the right type of contest to breakthrough for her 1st win this campaign. Chasing home when 4th to PATCHWORK JET 3 starts back, she was then only beaten a head at her next outing. With the trail, she looks to get her chance.
TOTAL DELIRIUM (2) had an early look form gate 4 last start however with no lead was forced to roll the sleeves and dig in for the tough stuff. Racing keenly didn’t help his chances and he soon faded. Runner-up at Marburg 3 starts back, he can light the lamps here and look to fight them off.
SCHOOBY (8) has been freshened since his last outing when working hard in transit and then fading under the pressure. A 3-time winner here at the track, with an easier trip he can feature.
MODERN THOUGHT (5) was sent around them early from the 2nd line last start and after working hard faded in the closing stages. 3rd here 2 starts back, she can be sharper against these.
SELECTIONS: BLACKJEWEL (1), TOTAL DELIRIUM (2), SCHOOBY (8), MODERN THOUGHT (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-5-8
HAVING THE FAITH (7) has been to the track 3 times since arriving in Qld, returning placings in 2 of those appearances. Finding the pegs before releasing last start, he was pinned down 3 back and lost all momentum in traffic, closing nicely when the gap did arrive. He will need a slice of luck again here, but gets his chance to open the Sunshine State account.
A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (3) held the 1x1 trail last start from gate 2 over the AP mile and was making a closing play when 1m from the winner ELIZABETHAN ERA. Sent to the breeze from the 2nd line the start prior, he might need to grind it out again here, but will be in for the fight.
MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (1) will take benefit from his latest outing when 2nd up from a spell. Eased to find position from gate 4 he chased home to be mid-field and with the improved alley can feature.
DOWNTOWN LUCCA (8) landed gate 5 last start and was forced to retreat in the early stages to find position. Runner-up in 3 of his previous 4 starts, with the right trail, he can be in the mix in this.
SELECTIONS: HAVING THE FAITH (7), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (3), MOONLIGHT BUTCHER (1), DOWNTOWN LUCCA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: HAVING THE FAITH (7) to win
MAYWYN TROUBADOR (6) has been to the track on 3 occasions and shown improvement at each appearance. Appreciating maiden company at his last start after taking on some better credentialed types his previous, he finds a similar type contest here. Despite the tough gate, he can look to open his account.
THE LAST STARFIRE (3) was warming up to things with successive placings here at both the 2040m and the sprint trip. Starting from gate 2 here last Thursday he was able to spear out to find the front and once in control took them all the way to break the maiden. With that win on the board, he can look to repeat with the free-hit again.
ITMIGHTBEYOU (2) wasn’t suited last start when forced to do it the tough way when unable to get across them early. Better suited if finding the pegs, she can look to find that position here and can improve.
TEACHERS PET (7) chased hard to grab 3rd in a TrotRods scamper here 2 starts back and followed that with a 6m 4th after leading them up over the 1780m last time. Needing a slice of luck, she can chime in late.
SELECTIONS: MAYWYN TROUBADOR (6), THE LAST STARFIRE (3), ITMIGHTBEYOU (2), TEACHERS PET (7)
SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYN TROUBADOR (6) to win
A tough race to close out the night where a few of these are searching to recapture winning form. Having never found victory lane, this might just be an opportunity for ILLBEWATCHING (4) to open his account. 3rd here 2 starts back behind LANOCH BOY, he was forced to work hard last start. With early speed he can fire the 1st shot and is worth a chance.
HURRIKANE SPECIAL (7) broke her maiden tag last start when showing early speed from gate 3 to lead them up and from the front held on to claim a 4m victory. Grabbed late the start prior when setting the tempo, she has options at release as the lone 2nd line runner and can challenge.
GLENCOE REIGN (5) makes his Qld debut for Team Graham and arrives after 3 starts at Newcastle where he has been down the line. Trialling here last Wednesday, it was a sound effort and he strikes the right type of assignment 1st up to show some improvement.
MANOFLISA (3) was sent to the pegs here 3 starts back and chased home to grab the silver when 3m from the winner PEGGY STARDUST. Holding 3rd last start, he can look to chime into the money here.
SELECTIONS: ILLBEWATCHING (4), HURRIKANE SPECIAL (7), GLENCOE REIGN (5), MANOFLISA (3)
