IMA BIRUBI BOY (4) had a look for the front here last start but couldn’t muster the speed to get across. Easing back to find position, he was then chasing in vain as SIR MACADOR dealt in front. Things didn’t go to plan 2 starts back and in this line-up, he can look for a breakthrough.
GOALKICKER (2) took on a mares qualifier last start looking to make it a hat-trick of victories. Holding them all out over the sprint trip, she set a slick tempo out in front that took its toll as she faded in the stretch. She will find this a shade easier and with the speed to have options, can feature.
ARTFUL MAID (10) pressed ahead to take a good shot at GOALKICKER in the mares qualifier last start after pressing forward from the 2nd line. Fighting hard in the breeze, it was a tidy effort and limiting the burn here can ask some questions.
CALLMEDEMARO (6) was a winner at his 2nd Qld start here in a non-TAB event when rolling forward to the breeze and packing too much heat to cruise home to a 10m victory. Despite the tough gate he can be in the mix.
SELECTIONS: IMA BIRUBI BOY (4), GOALKICKER (2), ARTFUL MAID (10), CALLMEDEMARO (6)
SUGGESTED BET: IMA BIRUBI BOY (4) to win
KATNISS (4) should appreciate the return to this class of contest after taking on much stronger sat night events at recent starts. Spearing across to the pegs before releasing last start, she was best of the chasers to grab the silver behind KETUT. Hitting the line strongly the start prior, she can take this.
INVITE ONLY (2) has faced some tough gates, highlighted by the fact she has been no closer than gate 5 in her past dozen outings. Fitter after 2 runs back from a break and following a stable switch to the Donny Smith team, she can look to press forward to take advantage of the gate.
VINTAGE DREAM (1) has a nice closing sprint when saved and with the option of the cosy trip here, will be slicing up the lane in the stretch. Not too far away last start, she can make the most of this.
CONDAFEW (6) isn’t afforded any favours from the tough gate here, but he is never far from the action. Chasing home to grab the silver at Tamworth last start behind BIG BANG LEONARD, he won’t be far away.
SELECTIONS: KATNISS (4), INVITE ONLY (2), VINTAGE DREAM (1), CONDAFEW (6)
SUGGESTED BET: KATNISS (4) to win
In another tricky contest to line up WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (9) can watch the action unfold before finishing over the top. Not suited when forced to restrain to find position from gate 6 last start, that had followed a mistake 2 starts back. Placing his previous 3 starts, he will be swooping.
TORQUE WITH ESTEEM (2) has good speed off the arm and from the two-hole can look to fire the 1st shot. Starting fav last start from this same gate, she pressed on to take control but couldn’t hold off the closing challenge of RIVERLEIGH JEFF. If able to pinch a panel, she will take some catching.
MACH TORQUE (8) made full use of an improved gate last start and over the sprint trip took them all the way, running a nice closing 800m in the process. With the right early trail, she can challenge here.
YKIKAFIL (7) will be needing a slice of luck from this gate as he looks set to be buried away in the run. Beaten the barest possible margin by RECIPE FOR DREAMING 2 starts back, he will probe in this.
SELECTIONS: WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (9), TORQUE WITH ESTEEM (2), MACH TORQUE (8), YKIKAFIL (7)
SUGGESTED BET: WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (9) to win
OUR MAJOR DAY (6) doesn’t have any favours from the tricky gate here, yet he should appreciate this class of opponent. Too far back in the pack last start as ALWAYS IN COMMAND brutalised them in a new track record, his run the start prior was full of merit. If he brings his manners, he can score.
SIR JULIAN (5) landed gate 1 here last start in a Sat night Band event and starting as fav, didn’t have the required early speed and was soon buried on the pegs 3 back. Luckless the start prior when locked away when needing space, he will need to work at some stage, but this is within reach.
RUTHLESS ARMBRO (3) found them a bit too slick last start and couldn’t go on with it as ISLAND BANNER cleared out to a big win. Only beaten a lip the start prior, he can capitalise from this gate.
BET IM SPECIAL (2) was back in the pack last start at Marburg and attacked the line hard to get within a neck of the winner. Grabbed late when leading them up 2 starts back, he will be gripping on.
SELECTIONS: OUR MAJOR DAY (6), SIR JULIAN (5), RUTHLESS ARMBRO (3) BET IM SPECIAL (2)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-3-5-6
AROONA (7) settled in the 1x1 trail last start from gate 2 over the sprint trip but couldn’t go with them in the closing stages when 9m from the winner COMMODORE JUJON. The start prior he threaded a passage via the passing lane after starting from gate 6 and in this will be coiled to strike.
GIGANTIC JASPER (1) has been runner-up at 2 of his past 3 starts and sandwiched between those is a Marburg victory. Holding the front from gate 2 over the sprint trip to lead throughout, he did well to claim the silver last start after throwing the driver off in the score-up. He will be clinging on again.
BEEJAYS DELIGHT (10) didn’t have much go his way last start at Marburg and never really had a clear shot at them. A tidy 3rd here2 starts back from gate 5, he can be working into this at the right time.
AT RANDOM (3) resumes from a spell after being luckless last start from a tough draw at Tamworth. Performing strongly on the show circuit prior to his spell, he is in the mix from the good alley.
SELECTIONS: AROONA (7), GIGANTIC JASPER (1), BEEJAYS DELIGHT (10), AT RANDOM (3)
SUGGESTED BET: AROONA (7) to win
BILLBOARD BONNIE (10) has regathered some form and will come into this contest with a top-3 at her past 3 in succession. Last start from this same gate and trip she packed too many guns in the closing stages to arrive for a smart win. This is not really that much harder and she can arrive again.
WILD ABOUT TOWN (7) was a winner here 4 starts back when sent to the front from gate 2 and taking control was able to cruise home to a comfortable win after dealing in front. Beaten by wide gates after landing the six-hole at his past 2 in succession he can be sharper here with the cosy run.
IMA REGAL JET (1) should appreciate a good alley after facing some tough draws in recent starts. He chased home to grab the bronze at Tamworth last start from a long way back and can give cheek.
ROLL WITH NIKE (8) landed inside the 2nd line at Marburg last start and was soon away from the poles but was wide off the track when chiming in. With even luck in transit he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: BILLBOARD BONNIE (10), WILD ABOUT TOWN (7), IMA REGAL JET (1), ROLL WITH NIKE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BILLBOARD BONNIE (10) to win
