Racing Queensland has advised harness participants that a replacement meeting has been scheduled for Redcliffe HRC (27/10), following the abandonment of the Albion Park HRC (27/10) meeting with the track deemed unsuitable for racing due to an issue uncovered during the track remediation project.

Remediation work commenced at the Albion Park track to address issues on October 12, following the abandonment of three race meetings due to inclement weather and the state of the track.

RQ, with the cooperation of APHRC and Redcliffe HRC, has successfully transferred Albion Park meetings to the recently renovated Redcliffe track throughout the remediation project.

RQ Chief Operating Officer Adam Wallish said it was disappointing the return to Albion Park had been delayed and thanked the Redcliffe and Albion Park clubs for their cooperation.

“With the wetter summer months fast approaching RQ and the APHRC agreed to undertake immediate remediation measures ahead of the Queensland Summer Carnival,” Mr Wallish said.

“I would like to thank the Redcliffe and Albion Park clubs and all participants for their cooperation during this time.”

Mr Wallish said the remediation project had uncovered an issue with the track base and how it reacted with the new top-surface material, which will require attention.

“I understand this delay may frustrate some participants. However, this project aims to provide the safest and most competitive surface for racing at Albion Park, which was experiencing significant issues prior to the start of the project.

“Racing will only return once the track is deemed suitable for racing.”

All Albion Park (27/10) starters have been entered at Redcliffe with those who wish not to compete at Redcliffe eligible to scratch without penalty before 9am on Friday, October 26.

New horses are also eligible to be nominated. However, preference will go to original starters. New draws will be conducted.

The Albion Park HRC meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 will be transferred to Redcliffe. Racing Queensland will advise participants of any further changes to the race schedule once finalised.
