RACE TWO

JANSSON (5) started from a big 60m impost on Friday and after being safely into stride was able to find the 1x1 trail. With the perfect tow into the contest, he loomed up with ease to cruise on in claiming a smart win. Back to the 20m tape for this event, he looks well placed and can go back-to-back.

GUNNER (4) stepped out for his 1st outing in Qld in perfect order to claim a mobile trot over the 2138m. Facing the breeze after rolling forward from the five-hole, he dug in and powered past them to take a 12m victory. With added fitness from the run, the big query will be his first look at the tapes here.

THE REAPER (8) has been hitting some nice areas, with successive wins followed with successive placings in his past 4. Searching for the closing shot last start when within 2m, he can feature here.

DOWN UNDER RORS (2) was in front but under siege when making an error here 2 starts back. He loomed strongly last start only to be grabbed by JANSSON near the line and has place prospects again.

SELECTIONS: JANSSON (5), GUNNER (4), THE REAPER (8), DOWN UNDER RORS (2)
SUGGESTED BET: JANSSON (5) to win

RACE THREE

The claimers return to the Tuesday menu and FEEL THE REIGN (4) should appreciate the small field of this line-up. A winner in a similarly graded claiming event 3 starts back, his 2 runs since have had merit in strong Sat night company. He can let some of his opponents do the bullocking and swoop late to take the glory.

CHANTREY (5) should relish this grade of claiming company after the quality he has met recently. Setting the tempo last start over this trip in a FFA event, he dug in when only 9m in arrears of the winner ROCK WITH SAM. Too strong when racing first over at the mile here 4 starts back, he will throw it down.

HEZA BROMAC (2) can dart in behind the speed and with the right trip then have first shot at the passing lane. Chasing behind OUR UNCLE JIM last start, he has place claims.

SELECTIONS: FEEL THE REIGN (4), CHANTREY (5), HEZA BROMAC (2)
SUGGESTED BET: FEEL THE REIGN (4) to win

RACE FOUR

Stripping fitter following her return to the track to start her 3YO season in the heats here last week, JASPER (5) gives away gate advantage to last week’s winner AUNTY BELLA. From inside the 2nd line, she was away from the pegs into the running line early to take 3rd. With the extra week and he run under her girth, she can look to turn the tables.

AUNTY BELLA (1) has been left in the care of Mal Charlton by NSW trainer Chris Frisby and lines up looking to sweep the heats of this APG series. Rolling forward to cut the breeze from gate 6 last week, she was too gritty in claiming a tough win. Runner-up the start prior at Bathurst when closing strongly, she has the gate to prove hard to stop.

LILLIES (3) fired off the arm here last week to set the speed from gate 3. After a 2nd stanza breather, she looked to dial it up but could not hold off the closing challenge. From the gate she can feature once again.

KENDYS BUTTERFLY (2) settled in the pocket trail last time but was not quite up to the same level as her opponents as AUNTY BELLA arrived. Working hard the start prior, she can fill an exotic number here.

SELECTIONS: JASPER (5), AUNTY BELLA (1), LILLIES (3), KENDYS BUTTERFLY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: JASPER (5) to win

RACE FIVE

FRONTLINER (2) speared off the arm to find the front here last week and once in control was left alone out in front. With steady panels throughout, he was able to hold on in claiming a 2m victory to open his 3YO season tally. Taking further benefit after 3 runs back from a spell, he has the gate to go back-to-back.

CHAMONIX (5) will take great benefit from his return to the track in the heats here last week after last being sighted at Redcliffe back in December when finishing 3m from MANILA PLAYBOY. Eased from gate 6 here in the Round 1 heat, he attacked the line strongly to get within an eyelash of victory and can throw it down again.

HES SWEET (8) was asked to do the hard yards last start when sent forward from gate 5 to face the breeze outside FRONTLINER. In for the fight, he held on for the silver when within 2m. The gate makes it a little tricky, but he can feature.

LOVE YOUR WORK (10) had an early shot last time out but when repelled was content to roll the sleeves to face the breeze. In for the fight, he was too strong in taking the win and is a podium hope in this.

SELECTIONS: FRONTLINER (2), CHAMONIX (5), HES SWEET (8), LOVE YOUR WORK (10)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

Making his 1st Qld appearance this season, MANILA PLAYBOY (8) faces a tricky alley first up. Too tough at his last run as a 2YO back in December at Redcliffe, he was sent South to tackle the Simpson Memorial in late January and lost no admirers behind HE AINT FAKIN in a slick mile. With a smart trial to prepare for the return, he can nullify the gate.

OCTOBER RACKETEER (9) was building towards a win and franked that assessment when scoring a Redcliffe victory last start. Finding the running line from the 2nd line, he was able to finish over the top of them in claiming victory by 2m with the margin back to 3rd a further 15m. Trailing through early, he can challenge.

SPECIALANDIKNOWIT (5) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts, the latest at Redcliffe when finding the front prior to releasing from the trail. With a closing shot falling 2m shy of victory, he can chime in again.

GLENLEDI COMMANDER (3) will be 2nd up in Qld following his defeat at Marburg when returning. With just 3 career starts spread over 2 years, he can build off his 1st up appearance.

SELECTIONS: MANILA PLAYBOY (8), OCTOBER RACKETEER (9), SPECIALANDIKNOWIT (5), GLENLEDI COMMANDER (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MANILA PLAYBOY (8) to win

RACE SEVEN

CHAINLINC (8)
will need some factors in his favour here but with the right scenario can arrive to take the prize in this. A winner here 4 starts back, he has placed in all 3 since, the latest when setting the speed but gunned down in the stretch in the closing stages. Runner-up to subsequent winner IN CHEVRON WE TRUST 2 starts back, he just needs a rub of the green.

ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (1) should appreciate a return to the big deck after making an error last start at Marburg that ended her chances and saw her banished to the trials. Earning the return, she has the gate to utilise her early speed and taking control here can look to capitalise on the opportunity.

DELIGHTFUL REASON (9) fired off the arm last start to take control and looked to take them all the way over the sprint trip. Grabbed in the closing stages, she was runner-up here 3 back and can chime in once again.

COPPICE (5) was required to do it the tough way last time out, facing the breeze but never shirking the task when 5m in arrears of SCOTCH EN ICE. He might need to work again but will be in for the fight.

SELECTIONS: CHAINLINC (8), ATOMIC BOMBSHELL (1), DELIGHTFUL REASON (9), COPPICE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: CHAINLINC (8) to win

RACE EIGHT

SCOTCH EN ICE (7)
eased from gate 6 to find position here last week, settling near the rear of the pack. With a solid tempo up front, he was strong to the line wide out after starting his charge from the 600m and arriving for stylish win. The gate is tougher again, but again with good up-front speed, look for him swooping.

RECIPE FOR DREAMING (1) was a winner here 4 runs back when swooping late to arrive over the 2138m trip. Working home over the top of them to claim victory from the 2nd line, the barriers have been his nemesis in the 3 runs since the win. Back to a good alley, he can use his early speed to challenge.

KING OF TRUMPS (6) had the tempo to suit last start at Redcliffe when making the closing charge a winning one to arrive by 2m. Taking his first look at The Creek for this assignment, he steps up in grade but looks up to the task.

ROYAL OBSESSION (10) started from this same gate last time out when sent around them early to get to the breeze. Grinding hard first over, he packed too much heat in claiming a half-head win. The gate stings again, but he is right up to it.

SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (7), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (1), KING OF TRUMPS (6), ROYAL OBSESSION (10)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

KING TRITON (3) will take great benefit from his 1st up run here in Qld when grabbing the bronze and beaten a half-neck behind GASMONKEY. Settling at the rear after retreating from gate 7, he was wide off the track and continued to give to the line in a smart effort. Tightened from the run, he can capitalise.

DATITUDE (4) did his share of early work when outside the leader before receiving cover. With the tempo on throughout, he was fighting to the line as THE HERVEY BAY took the prize. Only 7m in arrears the start prior despite a tough run, if he can limit the burn, he can throw down a challenge.

LEFT A TERROR (1) started in red figures last start from this gate over the mile when taking the trail and finishing 4m from the winner GOLIGHTLY. Too strong in the breeze 2 starts back, he has the gate to take his chance.

HENRY HU (7) was 2md up from a spell here last week when striking trouble from gate 7. Losing all chance, he chased gamely as GOLIGHTLY dictated. The gate again stings, but 3rd up he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: KING TRITON (3), DATITUDE (4), LEFT A TERROR (1), HENRY HU (7)
SUGGESTED BET: KING TRITON (3) to win

RACE TEN

GOLIGHTLY (6) completed a hat-trick of victories last start when spearing off the arm to take control from gate 4 and was never in danger thereafter. Setting a new career PB rate with the 4m victory, it followed a strong win at Marburg from the 2nd line. Despite the sticky gate he can go again.

VIRGIL (9) returns from a spell to kick off his 4YO term here. Last seen at Redcliffe back in December when not entirely comfortable in finishing within 2m of the winner, he has opened the pipes with a tidy trial in readiness for the return. Securing the right trail through early he can challenge fresh.

JAY TEE TYRON (2) eased from gate 6 last start to settle rearward with the closing tempo making it tough for the chasing pack. A winner here 4 starts back, the improved gate is a big plus to his hopes.

OUR UNCLE JIM (10) was game in defeat when facing the breeze over the 2138m trip and grinding it out to claim the silver. Too strong for them in the closing stages last start, he can feature again here.

SELECTIONS: GOLIGHTLY (6), VIRGIL (9), JAY TEE TYRON (2), OUR UNCLE JIM (10)
SUGGESTED BET: GOLIGHTLY (6) to win
