Racing Queensland has confirmed that the next Greater Brisbane Greyhound Centre Industry Stakeholder Briefing will take place at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Click here for the event flyer.

The briefing will commence at 10am for 12.30pm completion and will provide industry participants with a comprehensive update on the progress of the GBGC project.

RQ engaged extensively with industry stakeholders during September 2020 and the feedback received at that time has been closely considered as the GBGC design has progressed.

RQ Executive General Manager Operations Adam Wallish said the first stakeholder briefing had provided RQ with invaluable insight around critical greyhound racing infrastructure and the site’s functionality.

“We put a lot of time into key stakeholder engagement and we were delighted with the depth and quality of feedback we received,” Mr Wallish said.

“So this next Industry Stakeholder Briefing is all about sharing the project’s progress and outlining how the current design meets both the day one vision and the needs and wants as put to us by participants.

“From day one, the GBGC set out to provide world class racing in three forms – single, two turn and straight racing – with animal care at the heart of all key decisions.

“The project has been supported by specialist advisors such as Professor David Eager (University of Technology, Sydney), David Allan Track Design and Cox Architects and it is now time to share our progress with those that will be using the GBGC on a seven day a week basis.

“And, as was the case during the initial stakeholder engagement phase, this next briefing will be presented interactively so, again, we will be welcoming feedback and taking it on board.

“I encourage all members of the Queensland greyhound industry to attend if at all possible.”

Information that is to be presented at the briefing will include the following:

  • GBGC planning approval progress;
  • Project timelines;
  • Design progression – masterplan, racetracks, grandstand, kenneling; and
  • Question and answer session.
