RACE TWO

RETURN ACE (2) has faced the starter 3 times since arriving in Qld, with his latest run a steady improvement on his 1st 2. From gate 4 at Marburg he eased back early and then working home in the latter stages found the line in good order. He strikes a winnable race here and can look to dictate.

JUSTATIC (1) is on the back-up from Thursday where he looked to be facing a task. 2 starts back his run had merit when sent forward from the 2nd line and working in the run over the 2040m only faded the closing stages. With good speed off the gate, he has the options to be in the firing line.

WEE JIMMY (3) was locked away 3 back against the poles last start at Marburg and was sound to the line when 6m from the winner RIVERLEIGH JEFF. Close up here 2 starts back, he can be thereabouts.

KARLOO MAC (8) pressed ahead and was doing some early work before securing cover last time out over this trip and chased gamely to hold 3rd. With the right early trail, he can be chiming in late here.

SELECTIONS: RETURN ACE (2), JUSTATIC (1), WEE JIMMY (3), KARLOO MAC (8)
SUGGESTED BET: RETURN ACE (2) to win

RACE THREE

MISTER DECORUM (5) started from gate 4 at Marburg last start and after rolling forward looking for the breeze, had a game of musical chairs and found the pocket trail as that horse rolled out to take the chair. Chasing hard for 3rd it was a tidy effort, as was his run behind SPECIAL RESERVE 2 starts back and this looks right up his alley.

FORTES IN FIDE (4) worked to the front from gate 2 last start at Marburg and setting even panels over the 2200m, just couldn’t see it out. 2nd here 2 starts back when chasing from gate 5, if he can limit the early burn, he will be ready to offer a closing challenge.

BETTING BARON (8) worked home in good order wide off the track last start over the AP mile and was within 3m of the winner COBALT BLUES. His run 2 starts back was a solid effort and he can be in the mix here.

ROLLONX (6) isn’t given any favours from the wide gate at just his 2nd run back for his 3YO term. A tidy winner when returning back on Sept 2, he faces some experienced campaigners here.

SELECTIONS: MISTER DECORUM (5), FORTES IN FIDE (4), BETTING BARON (8), ROLLONX (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER DECORUM (5) to win

RACE FOUR

COUNTRY RUN (8)
worked across to the breeze from gate 5 last start and kicked up to repel a challenge for that position. The burn told in the latter stages of the mile when he faded out to finish down the line behind the smart filly MISS RUBY SUNSHINE. Runner-up his previous 2, this suits.

DOOLITTLE DANDY (1) looked to take them all the way from this gate last start and after some even panels out in front, couldn’t see it out. His run the start prior from gate 6 when working home wide off the track had merit and with the peg-line benefits on offer here, can be ready to strike.

A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (4) cut the breeze here on Wed night and was in for the fight when holding on for the silver behind GRINYDONTCHA. Buried away his previous 2, he can ask some questions.

CAMPBELL BEST (2) backs up from Thursday where he looked to be facing a task which followed a tough trip when wide off the track. He closed nicely here 3 starts back and with the good alley can be sharper.

SELECTIONS: COUNTRY RUN (8), DOOLITTLE DANDY (1), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (4), CAMPBELL BEST (2)
SUGGESTED BET: COUNTRY RUN (8) to win

RACE FIVE

This is by far the toughest race on the card and the map looks just as tough. 3rd up from a spell HURRIKANE SPECIAL (7) will need a rub of the green at some point in the run from inside the 2nd line but if the gaps come, she is worth a ticket. Finding the line nicely last start when 6m in arrears, this might be her moment.

DUCHESS DOWNUNDER (3) resumes from a spell to start her 3YO term after 2 runs late in the season as a 2YO. Forget her 2nd-up effort where she made an error ending her night, the debut was a tidy run showing speed off the arm before releasing and finishing 6m away. This is within reach.

WHATELEY (5) is approaching 12 months since his only success and has faced the starter 4 times since returning from a 9-month break. 3rd here 2 starts back in a non-TAB event, he can chime in.

NEVASANO (8) returns to start her 4YO season after a 9 start 3YO term that netted a lone victory. With 3 trials to prepare for the return, the last of those was a sound effort and she is in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (7), DUCHESS DOWNUNDER (3), WHATELEY (5), NEVASANO (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

GRIZZLY MONTANA (7) will need some factors in his favour from inside the 2nd line but the right play could be to get off the markers early. Not too far away in a qualifier last start behind TIN ROOF RAIDER, he found the line in good order for the bronze here 2 starts back. Just needs clear space to take this.

KAY NORA SHANNON (6) isn’t afforded any favours from the wide gate after making an error last start and being banished to the outside draw. Holding on for the silver 2 starts back from the pocket trail, her win here 4 starts back was a strong effort when charging home from the rear.

LAZY BLAZE (5) was in search of a hat-trick of victories last start when landing the 2nd line and things didn’t really go to plan when down the line behind SPONDOOLEY. Too strong in the breeze 2 starts back, he can look for atonement.

TRENT FROM PUNCHY (4) was wide off the track last start when trying to make up late ground at Marburg, and grabbing the bronze. Wide in the latter stages 2 starts back, he can chime in late here.

SELECTIONS: GRIZZLY MONTANA (7), KAY NORA SHANNON (6), LAZY BLAZE (5), TRENT FROM PUNCHY (4)
SUGGESTED BET: GRIZZLY MONTANA (7) to win

RACE SEVEN

BAMBOLE NERE (4) was well-supported to run fav last start at Marburg from the 2nd line in a small field. Working home wide off the track in the closing stages, she was able grab the silver. The start prior she didn’t get things go her way and although her record here is not great, this looks winnable.

PRIVATE JUJON (8) hasn’t been too far away of late and has run 4th at his past 3 in succession. He did some early work in securing position last start at Marburg when 7m in arrears of the winner CHEYENNE AUTUMN and the start prior worked hard in the breeze behind IAM THE JOKER. He has claims here.

CHANG (5) faces the sticky gate but if able to repeat his last start 3rd when closing out strongly behind IAM THE JOKER, he can be finding the podium again in this line-up.

ELSIES GIRL (1) will take some benefit from her race debut on Wed night. From the good alley and finding this opposition much easier than her 1st appearance, she can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: BAMBOLE NERE (4), PRIVATE JUJON (8), CHANG (5), ELSIES GIRL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-4-5-8
