RACE TWO

The second round of the McNeil Series after two heats last Friday. FATHER CHRISTMAS (11) was strong to the line from deep in the pack in his heat when finishing 6m from RILEY MOMENT. Placed at his past five in succession, he is moving closer to a win and with the right trail can arrive here.

MAJESTIC HARRY (10) was first up in his heat last week when put into the contest in the middle stages to circle them and sit parked. Grinding it out to the line, he was game in defeat when only a neck in arrears. Tightened from that outing, he can look to maximise his points.

JANSSON (8) was not suited last week in the heat where he had a wall of traffic in front from the start. Given another run here on Tuesday where he landed a win from the pocket trail, back to the front tape here is a big plus.

PRINCESS FAITH (13) was resuming from a spell in the first round when she was safely into stride from the 10m to finish with the bronze behind REGAL APPOINTMENT. The added fitness helps.

SELECTIONS: FATHER CHRISTMAS (11), MAJESTIC HARRY (10), JANSSON (8), PRINCESS FAITH (13)
SUGGESTED BET: FATHER CHRISTMAS (11) to win

RACE THREE

Landing his best gate this preparation, the race looks to profile perfectly for JUDDY DOUGLAS (1) to take them all the way. Sitting parked in a qualifier last start, he started fav and fought to the wire when 3m in arrears of the winner. Needing to hustle early, he can keep them rolling.

CAPTAIN NEMO (5) returns to kick off his 4YO season after his last appearance in November in the 3YO Classic during the Summer Carnival. Only a half-neck from Italian Lad two starts back after a tough trip, he comes into this without a public trial which poses a query to his challenging chances.

BEE GEES BANDIT (3) settled in the running line last time out and was making a late play when under 5m from the subsequent winner SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE. He can be close enough to feature again.

TAROONA BROMAC (7) faces the ODM embargo after a starting error last start proved costly when still within 10m from SUBTLE DELIGHT. Despite the wide alley he looms as a player.

SELECTIONS: JUDDY DOUGLAS (1), CAPTAIN NEMO (5), BEE GEES BANDIT (3), TAROONA BROMAC (7)
SUGGESTED BET: JUDDY DOUGLAS (1) to win

RACE FOUR

The second of the second round McNeil Heats where both heat winners from Round 1 are drawn to face off. RILEY MOMENT (1) was first up since October when closing out strongly in the latter stages to claim a stylish win. Fitter for the outing, she can get the perfect trip from this lane to repeat.

REGAL APPOINTMENT (2) was the other heat winner and was also first up in the Sunshine State where he was able to press on to take control and from the front was never in danger to claim a 4m victory. With the position to look to go straight to the front, he can look to go maximum points.

MIKEMARO (6) was fizzy before the start last week, missed the start when galloping away and then was sent to sit parked with 1400m left to run. Fading late, if he can start cleanly a sharper return can be expected.

BOURBONOTHEROCKS (3) was safely away to find the 1x1 trail but could not go with them the pace went on and angled back to the pegs for the shortest way home. Fitter from the run she can feature.

SELECTIONS: RILEY MOMENT (1), REGAL APPOINTMENT (2), MIKEMARO (6), BOURBONOTHEROCKS (3)
SUGGESTED BET: RILEY MOMENT (1) to win

RACE FIVE

Runner-up in two of his past three starts, the improved gate for SONNY ORLANDO (1) can be the catalyst for him to overturn a win drought that extends 14-months. Content to sit parked last start, he was in for the fight to hold on for 2nd as MOONLIGHT BUTCHER swept home. The gate is a plus.

LOOKS JUST RIGHT (3) was a winner here three starts back when settling in the 1x1 trail before owning the best closing speed to take the prize. Gunned down after being sent to the front here two starts back, he was hemmed away last start. He can look to show the hustle to take a forward spot.

ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (8) retreated from gate 4 last start and from back in the pack never really ate into the deficit. The cosy trip here will be more suitable, and he can be stalking for openings.

GETALOADATHISGIRL (9) was runner-up last start when making a closing play over the Redcliffe sprint trip. The pace was too hot here two starts back but back to this grade looks more suitable.

SELECTIONS: SONNY ORLANDO (1), LOOKS JUST RIGHT (3), ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (8), GETALOADATHISGIRL (9)
SUGGESTED BET: SONNY ORLANDO (1) to win

RACE SIX

With a win drought that dated to April, SQUARE DEALER (1) showed the benefits a good barrier can make when capitalising here three starts to take them all the way from gate 1. Following that with a 3rd to STRONG RESPONSE from the second line, back to the tight gate can see him look to dictate.

STRONG RESPONSE (4) has been in super form since resuming from a spell and lines up here searching for a quartet of wins after completing the hat-trick last start. The latest win was a smart performance from gate 12 over the 2138m in a second division qualifier and he will throw it down.

MAGGIE (5) settled in the pocket trail from inside the second line over the mile here two starts back and owned the best closing speed to arrive. Strong to the line last start, the gate dents her chances.

FALCONS (8) returns from a spell to kick off his 4YO term and arrives in Qld to join the Thurlow yard. With a sound trial to prepare, he has the ideal gate fresh for the cosy trip behind the speed.

SELECTIONS: SQUARE DEALER (1), STRONG RESPONSE (4), MAGGIE (5), FALCONS (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-4-5-8

RACE SEVEN

ULAANBAATAR (1)
was first-up off a freshen last start when easing from gate 5 to find the pegs and watch the tempo unfold up front. Angled into space, she owned the best closing speed to arrive for a neck victory. With all the options from this alley, she gets the chance to go back-to-back.

MOTU AMETHYST (4) tackled a mare’s qualifier over the mile last start where she was three-wide in a 27.6 opening panel and wide the first half mile before wilting over the latter stages. If she can find the poles cheaply, she can be much sharper in this battle.

ROCKNROLL TIMES (7) has not had much luck with barriers on his summer sojourn and is slammed with a 7 here. Forced to sit parked and fading behind the talented RACY ROXY last start, he will find these opponents more suitable.

CHARLEVOIX (6) was sent to the chair from gate 7 last start and after the tough trip was out of bullets when carted wider up the track at the 400m. A winner at his previous two, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: ULAANBAATAR (1), MOTU AMETHYST (4), ROCKNROLL TIMES (7), CHARLEVOIX (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

This race looks wide open with the 2138m adding another layer of intrigue. JAGGERS SWAGGER (10) is only lightly raced with his last start when retreating in the early stages from gate 7 with his closing play a tidy effort behind JACKKA WALLY. Some pressure will help his chances to swoop on them.

LETTUCEROLL (7) faces a task from out in the carpark but comes into this off a smart last start win where he powered over the top of them over this trip to claim the prize. Overcoming this alley 5 starts back over this same trip, he just needs a slice of luck to make the closing challenge.

RING THE TILL (9) has been in top touch and stepped up to qualifying company last start with a strong 3rd when attacking the line in nice order. A winner in four of his past six, he can chime in.

GLENLEDI COMMANDER (2) was a winner at the mile five starts back when taking them all the way from gate 1. Making a late play when just a neck from LETTUCEROLL last start, the gate is a big help.

SELECTIONS: JAGGERS SWAGGER (10), LETTUCEROLL (7), RING THE TILL (9), GLENLEDI COMMANDER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: JAGGERS SWAGGER (10) to win

RACE NINE

Going two for two since arriving in Qld from wide gates, THE DARLING (1) should appreciate the opportunity to start closer to the poles. Finishing hard over the top of them at the mile last start for a new career PB mile, she comes up with the options here to complete the threepeat.

TEDDY FEELS GOOD (9) drops back to midweek company after taking on qualifiers at his past two starts. Forced to sit parked last start, he could not go on with it in the closing stages while the start prior he was fighting hard for the silver in front. He can chase to challenge here.

YEP GOT CHOOKS (10) was sent to the front last start in a qualifier and had his chances undone when running a sub 27 third panel. Just 5m from the winner, with the right trip he is up to this.

LETTERKENNY BOY (7) has no favours from the wide gate but if the tempo is solid, he is the off-pace runner to be making a closing challenge. The early speed did not help last start.

SELECTIONS: THE DARLING (1), TEDDY FEELS GOOD (9), YEP GOT CHOOKS (10), LETTERKENNY BOY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: THE DARLING (1) to win
