Racing Queensland advises that the Sunshine Coast Turf Club race meeting this Sunday, February 27, has been transferred to the Polytrack at the same venue.

Following a track inspection earlier today, officials determined that the sheer volume of rain which has fallen over the past 48 hours has precluded the possibility that the racing surface might recover in time for Sunday’s meeting, irrespective of the weather conditions encountered between now and raceday.

The transfer of the meeting has necessitated changes to some of the distances on the program. They are:

  • Race 4 – was 1800m, is now 2000m;
  • Race 5 – was 2200m, is now 2150m;
  • Race 6 – was 1300m, is now 1400m; and
  • Race 8 – was 1200m, is now 1100m.

The transfer has also resulted in an adjustment to the starting limit for Races 6 and 8.

Trainers should note that in accordance with RQ protocol (and wagering service operator requirements), any scratchings made prior to the race meeting being transferred are unable to be reinstated.

There will also be no fees applicable for scratchings made at the meeting, irrespective of the time they were transacted.

The updated race fields will be available this afternoon on the Racing Australia and RQ websites.

Participants with engagements at the race meeting have also been advised via SMS.
