RACE TWO

This race looks set for showdown between 2 pacers on the rise with both recording some impressive victories since arriving in Qld. GOING FOR GOLD (9) has the 2nd line to overcome and he will need to chase here after being chased at his past 2. Sweeping a Marburg to Albion Series, he ran a slick mile 1st up from a spell around the tight track before opening-up in the final. This looms as a tasty clash.

TARGARYEN (6) bounced back with a vengeance last start in a brutalising effort from the front when running his rivals into the ground. His closing 800m split of 55 flat was closed out with a sizzling 26.9 closing panel. All 3 of his wins in Qld have been from the front and despite the wider gate, he looks set to throw down a big challenge.

TAKE IN THE GOLD (10) returns to Qld for NSW based KerryAnn Morris with his past 4 starts when not that far away from the action at Penrith. He strikes a tough race but can be looking to chime in.

DESPONDENT (5) was sent for a freshen after a last start 2nd when holding on for the silver behind ALLSTAR SEA. Repelled early, he found the trail before using the passing lane. With a smart trial to prepare, he is a podium chance.

SELECTIONS: GOING FOR GOLD (9), TARGARYEN (6), TAKE IN THE GOLD (10), DESPONDENT (5)
SUGGESTED BET: GOING FOR GOLD (9) to win

RACE THREE

CAPTAINS PICK (9)
was 3rd up from a spell last start when taking on experienced campaigners over the Redcliffe 1780m. Starting from the 2nd line, he was out and chasing and grabbed the silver when 4m shy of the winner PACIFIC COIN. With added fitness, a return to the big oval and back to his own age, it seems to auger well for him here.

AYE AYE CAPTAIN (3) resumes from a spell and has been to the trials once to open the pipes in readiness for his return. Hitting the board in 5 of his 6 career outings, including an all the way win at his 3rd career start, he can look to fire an early shot here and if forward enough in condition can throw down the challenge.

BONDI SHAKE (7) will appreciate a return to his own age under these conditions despite landing the carpark alley. Tackling some experienced performers recently, he scored a smart win 4 back and followed that with a beaten margin of a head at each of his next 2. This is within reach.

LILS NIGHTMARE (1) settled in the pocket trail from this gate on debut and did everything right in holding on for the silver when 2m in arrears. With the added experience he can be in the mix again.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAINS PICK (9), AYE AYE CAPTAIN (3), BONDI SHAKE (7) LILS NIGHTMARE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAINS PICK (9) to win

RACE FOUR

If you were on ROCK THE HOUSE (1) last start, it might be best to erase that outing from the memory and hope redemption can be claimed here. Huge in defeat when grabbing 2nd, it followed a 3rd when he could have been closer if the gaps arrived sooner. Again, huge in defeat 3 back, he appears to get his chance in this.

MAYWYN TROUBADOR (2) franked the performance of a slick trial when pressing on to claim a big win here last time out. Settling back in the pack from gate 10, he moved up, swept by, and powered away to claim a 22m victory. The improved gate can make it easier and he can look to repeat.

BETTERTHANLEGO (10) eased from gate 7 last start before making a wide and searching run to grab 2nd over the mile when within 1.5m of the winner. Her run the start prior following an early error had merit and she can be joining in here.

KETTERING GIRL (6) has placed at 4 of her past 5 outings, the latest when closing out strongly to grab 2nd when only a half-head in arrears of the winner. The gate stings but she has place claims.

SELECTIONS: ROCK THE HOUSE (1), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (2), BETTERTHANLEGO (10), KETTERING GIRL (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

FEARLESS FAITH (8)
will need a few factors in her favour to take the prize here, but the risk could pay rewards. Buried away last start from this same alley as BETTERTHANDIAMONDS carved it out in front to claim a big victory, the start prior she was just too far back. If the passing lane arrives with momentum, she can dart through.

COOL AND CALCULATING (3) is new to Qld and looks to hold the keys to this race at her 1st appearance. Arriving a five-time winner, she has not tasted success in over six months but has trialled smartly in readiness. Rolling to the front before being pegged away in the trial, her early speed is questionable, but she remains firmly under watch.

ROCKNROLL DUDE (9) fired off the arm from the three-hole at The Triangle last start and despite a controlled lead could not put them away. His run 3 starts back had merit and a return to the big oval suits his chances.

STUDLEIGH STRIDE (1) has been struggling to show his best of late but comes up with the gate advantage and has speed when asked. Chasing in vain last start- as were most of the field, his run 2 back was sound and gets his chance to improve.

SELECTIONS: FEARLESS FAITH (8), COOL AND CALCULATING (3), ROCKNROLL DUDE (9), STUDLEIGH STRIDE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: FEARLESS FAITH (8) to win

RACE SIX

After seemingly losing his way for an extended period, TEARAWAY DIAMOND (5) has been much more consistent in recent weeks, hitting the board in 7 of his past 10 appearances. Luckless last start when pinned down on the poles, he was still within 5m of the winner. From this gate he can press forward and might just have found conditions to suit.

ROYAL OBSESSION (9) started from this gate last start and was chasing gamely behind the big winner BETTERTHANDIAMONDS to grab 3rd. That was an improved effort after hitting a flat spot in a few runs after a run of 3 successive placings looked like a win was around the corner. Back on track, this is a winnable contest.

SONNY ORLANDO (4) was a winner here 4 starts back when finishing over the top of them to claim a new career PB victory. Not that far away in the 3 starts since that win, he can be right in the fight.

MISS KEESHA (2) has been without a win for over 12 months now but comes up with an improved gate for this contest. Working home soundly behind VENUS JUJON last start at Redcliffe, she can bob-up here.

SELECTIONS: TEARAWAY DIAMOND (5), ROYAL OBSESSION (9), SONNY ORLANDO (4), MISS KEESHA (2)
SUGGESTED BET: TEARAWAY DIAMOND (5) to win

RACE SEVEN

PROSECUTION WITNESS (5) is moving ever closer to a breakthrough Qld victory after another placing last start to make it 3 successive minors. Eased from gate 6 last start, he was trucking home strongly to get within a head of the winner MACHS MARETA. Tough in the breeze the start prior, he may need to roll the sleeves here.

MILLWOOD TILLY (9) tackled a strong mares contest last start when doing the heavy lifting over the mile and fading under the workload as JIGGLE AND JIVE dictated in front. Within 2m of PELOSI the start prior when finding the pocket trail, she can look to trail through early here to make a challenge.

MISTER HART (1) has good early speed and from this alley will be settling close to the action. Working home for the bronze last start when the tempo was controlled in front, he can place again.

MACH LE MORE (7) could not go on with it in the closing stages at Redcliffe last start when nearer the rear behind the winner BOHANNAN. The wide gate stings but with an even tempo can chime in.

SELECTIONS: PROSECUTION WITNESS (5), MILLWOOD TILLY (9), MISTER HART (1), MACH LE MORE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-5-7-9

RACE EIGHT

SPEECHCRAFT (3) angled to the pegs from gate 10 here last start and was probing for gaps when chiming in late to grab the silver when 1.5m from the winner HARPAGUS. Having an early look without over doing it 2 starts back when chasing BLUE IVY, he can fire the first shot in this contest.

TRUE STEPPER (4) will take some benefit from her latest appearance when returning from a freshen and not that far from the winner SOHO TSUNAMI. The start prior she was obliged to work to secure position in a sharp mile behind OAXACAN DREAM. This seems a more suitable target to issue a challenge.

MIND OF MY OWN (8) shoots for a hat-trick of victories after wins at the 2138m and then the mile at her past 2 outings. Too strong when racing first over last start, she will need a slice of luck from this alley.

IN THE PAPER (1) lands his best gate for some time with a mix of bad manners and bad luck has seen him start from gate 5 or wider his past 14 in succession. With the early options he can feature.

SELECTIONS: SPEECHCRAFT (3), TRUE STEPPER (4), MIND OF MY OWN (8), IN THE PAPER (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

COLBY (4) has been given a let-up since his last outing when fading in the run from a wide gate in the Bill Dixon. That followed a tidy 2nd behind WILL THE WIZARD in the JC McMullen. With a smart trial behind the FFA gun TURN IT UP, he can press forward here to look for a winning return.

GOTTA MOMENT (1) started from the 2nd line last start and sent on an early forward move to get into the contest was then left with limited resources for the close-out. Fading to be well beaten, it had followed a smart win when leading throughout. With the good gate, he can bounce back hard.

CHERRYS THE BEST (7) has no favours from the outside alley, but she is going well, and a win is around the corner when she can find conditions to suit. Working home strongly last start from gate 6, she can chime in.

BLUE IVY (2) found the front over the sprint trip here 2 starts back and was able to grip on for a narrow victory. Setting the speed last start she was gunned down over the 2138m and back to the mile has podium claims here.

SELECTIONS: COLBY (4), GOTTA MOMENT (1), CHERRYS THE BEST (7), BLUE IVY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: COLBY (4) to win
