RACE TWO

Opening in red figures and then heavily supported to score, COOL AND CALCULATING (6) could not satisfy her followers when gunned down in the closing strides by ROCKNROLL DUDE. That was her 1st appearance in Qld and 1st since August, so she will take good benefit from the outing. The gate stings but she can atone.

COPPICE (1) was sent forward from gate 4 last start and obliged to do it the tough way when facing the breeze throughout. In for the fight when holding on for the silver behind ROCK THE HOUSE, he was too tough for them here 4 starts back in scoring. He can challenge from this gate.

ROYAL OBSESSION (7) backs up from Wed night at Redcliffe where he looked in danger of being buried in the run from inside the 2nd line. His previous 3 here at The Creek had all been from the 2nd line and despite being wide can chime in.

TAKE IN THE GOLD (8) did not have the smoothest run last start when down the line behind the ultra-smart GOING FOR GOLD. With options as the lone 2nd liner, he can be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: COOL AND CALCULATING (6), COPPICE (1), ROYAL OBSESSION (7), TAKE IN THE GOLD (8)
SUGGESTED BET: COOL AND CALCULATING (6) to win

RACE THREE

COLBY (10)
will strip fitter following his latest outing when returning from a let-up but has been given no favours from the tricky gate. Starting in red figures from gate 4, he was sent forward to cut the breeze over the mile but could not see it out when 4m away. Meeting some tough opponents in the starts prior, he can be too sharp.

ICE PICK ANGIE (5) features in a stable change and is now prepared by Ricky Thurlow. Completing a hat-trick of victories last start when taking the trail over this trip, she made the winning shot up the passing lane at her 1st appearance in Qld. The gate stings but with even luck, she can look to throw it down.

MILLWOOD TILLY (6) settled in the running line from the 2nd line last start before closing strongly to get within a half-head of the winner. Only 2m from PELOSI here 3 runs back, she can feature in this.

OUR LITTLE DIGGER (2) should find this a shade or 2 easier than recent outings and the return to the mile should be in his favour. Trailing them in last start in a Band 5 event over the 2138m, he is a podium chance.

SELECTIONS: COLBY (10), ICE PICK ANGIE (5), MILLWOOD TILLY (6), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (2)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

MAGGIE (6) rolled forward to sit outside the leader and winner GOLIGHTLY last start when tackling the Kilcoy 1820m grass trip. Forget her run 2 back at Marburg where she was never comfortable, she gets off the grass- where she has 2 wins and the 2nd- where despite the gate she looks to get her chance.

MAYWYN TROUBADOR (8) will need a slice of luck from this alley as he looks in danger of being pinned down. Cruising on by to claim a big victory here 2 starts back when saved for a late challenge, he tried to dictate last start but could not maintain the rage when claiming the bronze. He will be looking for a way clear.

BUTCHERFEELGOOD (7) was not happy as they approached the start last time out and made an error before retreating to the rear. In nice touch prior to that, if she can go early, she is a podium chance.

CLARES FOOL (1) was forced to do it the tough way last start at Redcliffe when rolling the sleeves but finishing down the line behind COUNTRY RUN. With the options from this alley, he can feature.

SELECTIONS: MAGGIE (6), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (8), BUTCHERFEELGOOD (7), CLARES FOOL (1)
SUGGESTED BET: MAGGIE (6) to win

RACE FIVE

After one race back from a spell where he was a narrow 3rd, BETTATHANIDEAL (1) can look to capitalise from the good alley. Squeezing across to the pocket trail from gate 3, he was looking to launch a closing raid when 1.5m from the winner BETTERTHANDIAMONDS. Fitter from the run, this looks within his grasp.

MACHS MARETTA (7) will be 2nd up in Qld and has featured in a stable switch since her 1st up win. Prepared by Craig Cross for that victory, she lines up for Ricky Thurlow here in search of a hat-trick of victories. Too strong when wide off the track in scoring here last start, the wide gate dents her chances, but she can still throw it down.

COPPERFIELD (9) has been to the track 3 times since returning from a spell and been in the money on 2 occasions. Grabbed in the closing strides by ICE PICK ANGIE last start, he will not be too far away.

SLINGSHOT (3) has hit the board at his past 4 in succession, the latest when finishing best of the rest behind the big winner LOMBO HEAVEN. Starting from gate 7 on that occasion, he can feature here.

SELECTIONS: BETTATHANIDEAL (1), MACHS MARETTA (7), COPPERFIELD (9), SLINGSHOT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTATHANIDEAL (1) to win

RACE SIX

AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1)
should take great benefit from his 1st run back from a break here last start when beaten the barest possible margin. Starting in red figures, he pressed forward to find the front before being nabbed in the last stride when beaten a pimple. A talented gelding, he has the gate to cash-in.

CAPTAINS PICK (4) has now placed at his past 4 in succession, the latest when 4m in arrears of the winner DANCINTOTHEBEAT after starting from a 2nd line barrier. Closing strongly the start prior when runner-up to PACIFIC COIN, he looms as a danger once again and can challenge.

DESPONDENT (5) had returned a sharp trial in looking to unlock his real ability and took that to his 1st up race appearance when leading them up before being grabbed late by the smart GOING FOR GOLD. He can look to be in the mix once again.

KETTERING GIRL (8) eased from gate 6 last start to secure position; she has faced a rough stretch of barriers in recent times. Only a half-head away from the winner last start, she has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1), CAPTAINS PICK (4), DESPONDENT (5), KETTERING GIRL (8)
SUGGESTED BET: AYE AYE CAPTAIN (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

FLAME LADY (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start and soon found herself pinned down on the poles 3 horses back and relying on some luck. Making a closing play to be within 2m of the winner, it followed a close 2nd to MORESCO. With all the options from the ace, she can capitalise.

RECIPE FOR DREAMING (3) fired out early over this trip 2 starts back before opting for cover and then holding on for the silver behind THE HERVEY BAY. Down the line behind the clear out winner LOMBO HEAVEN last start, he can fire some early bullets here in making a case to challenge.

IDEAL TIGER (11) was met with good support over this trip last start and after snagging back in the early stages, was soon facing a task too great. He will need a slice of luck again from this alley but cannot be discounted.

SHEZ ALL STYLE (5) will take good benefit from her latest outing when returning from a break. Easing out of things early, she did not have the smoothest passage when grabbing 3rd behind GOING FOR GOLD. It is a sticky alley in 5, but she can feature.

SELECTIONS: FLAME LADY (1), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (3), IDEAL TIGER (11), SHEZ ALL STYLE (5)
SUGGESTED BET: FLAME LADY (1) to win
