RACE TWO

AYE AYE CAPTAIN (9)
must negotiate another 2nd line barrier after facing them in 5 of his past 6 starts. Buried away from gate 7 here last time, he was searching for the gaps when 4m from the winner ARTISTIC SAINT. In a race that looks to generate tempo, he can sneak home over a field where a few might be found out by the 2040.

GUY LOOKS GOOD (8) was a winner here 5 starts back when powering home over the top from gate 6 to claim the prize in a slow closing quarter. Given a chance at The Creek at his next 3 starts, he returned here last start when just 7m in arrears from gate 9. He is one that the distance may affect.

ALTANA BLUE (1) looks to have the best credentials over the trip and comes up with the right alley to burrow through. A gritty 2nd last start after sitting parked, he gets his chance to start 2022 on top.

BARBOO (3) fired off the arm from gate 2 here on Sunday looking for an all the way win. Leading dee into the stretch, he was collared in the closing strides to go under by a head. He can feature again.

SELECTIONS: AYE AYE CAPTAIN (9), GUY LOOKS GOOD (8), ALTANA BLUE (1), BARBOO (3)
SUGGESTED BET: AYE AYE CAPTAIN (9) to win

RACE THREE

FAVREAU (1)
was not suited at Marburg last start when fishing nearer the rear after doing some early work. Judge his chances on a solid 4th here 2 starts back when finding the front before releasing and then finishing just 4m from the winner VIEWBYTHEROCK. The query will be the trip with this his first time over the 2040m, but the gate is a big help.

MONTEREY JACK (8) started from this same alley last week when settled back in the pack once positions were sorted. Angled three wide trying to launch into the race, he could manage a midfield finish as DOOLITTLE DOOZZIE took them all the way. With as similar trip he can challenge.

REGAL NIGHTSHADE (5) eased from gate 4 to find the poles last start and with the right tempo, stuck to the inside to arrive up the passing lane. He can get forward to feature here.

TORQUE IN CONTROL (4) resumes from a spell to start her 4YO term, with all her career wins coming here on The Triangle. A winner 3 starts back when finishing best, she is in the mix fresh.

SELECTIONS: FAVREAU (1), MONTEREY JACK (8), REGAL NIGHTSHADE (5), TORQUE IN CONTROL (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

GO AWAY (8)
started from gate 9 at her last outing and was given an easy time of it early before making a sustained run over the closing stages to arrive for a narrow victory. Aided by a sizzling opening panel in that contest, with the right tempo she can look to arrive again.

ABERCROMBIE TAB (1) eased off the poles from inside the 2nd line here 2 starts back when chasing to grab the bronze. Running over a black cat such was his luck here last week when everything just went against him after securing an economical trip, he has the gate to search for redemption.

JACKEROO SHANNON (9) has placed in both his appearances on this track, the latest from gate 5 when retreating early before working into it over the closing stages. A cart into the contest will help.

JET FORCE (2) looked to get his chance at Marburg 2 starts back when landing the ace and sent to the post as fav. Unable to see it out, he was beaten by gate 6 last start but can look to bounce back.

SELECTIONS: GO AWAY (8), ABERCROMBIE TAB (1), JACKEROO SHANNON (9), JET FORCE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: GO AWAY (8) to win

RACE FIVE

BLUE IVY (3) grabbed the silver here 3 starts back after working early to secure position and finishing off in nice order behind ROLL WITH ROCKY. Placed at her next start, she was able to claim a deserved win last time, finishing over the top to score. With early bullets to fire, she can go back-to-back.

GASMONKEY (8) has placed at his past 3 in succession, the latest over the AP mile when hitting the line in nice style behind the smart HEMSWORTH. Asked to roll the sleeves to do it the tough way here 2 starts back over the 2040m trip, he can trial through early to throw down the challenge.

IL MAXIMUS (5) started from gate 8 last start when settling in the running line before trying to make a closing play. Just a head away from the in-form LA SAFRON 3 runs back, he will be finishing hard.

CONVAIR HUSTLER (1) started from inside the 2nd line last time out over the AP mile where he secured the cosy trip before grabbing the silver behind LOVE YOUR WORK. He will be probing again.

SELECTIONS: BLUE IVY (3), GASMONKEY (8), IL MAXIMUS (5), CONVAIR HUSTLER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BLUE IVY (3) to win

RACE SIX

KOOKABURRAPRINCESS (9)
showed the early speed to lead last start before taking the trail and then waiting until the stretch was able to dive through along the passing lane to take the prize. Transferred into the Shane Graham stable, it’s rare to see this much winning form in a 30-38 race with 4 last start winners and 7 runners with a win in their last 5 starts, but she can repeat the win.

SHES ALL STAR (6) started from gate 5 last start when sent forward to find the front. Looking to take them all the way, she was collared in the last stride to go under an eyelash. IN super consistent form where she has been in the money at 9 of her past 11 starts, she can overcome the gate to challenge.

DEVELSTIX (1) will take good benefit from his last start where he was fresh up from a spell. Rolling across from gate 3 to secure position, he held on for the bronze and from the gate can feature again.

MANY DELIGHTS (4) was sent forward off the arm last start to take control in the early stages and once in front was never headed, holding on for a narrow victory. A winner at 3 of his past 6 starts, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: KOOKABURRAPRINCESS (9), SHES ALL STAR (6), DEVELSTIX (1), MANY DELIGHTS (4)
SUGGESTED BET: KOOKABURRAPRINCESS (9) to win

RACE SEVEN

MAYWYN A JUG ORTWO (7)
will be requiring some factors in his favour but might just have found the race to overturn a win drought that has spanned just on two years. Trying to make a late raid here last week wide off the track, he found the line in nice order and if he can get the passing lane with momentum, might just sneak away with this.

BE ON THE SLY (5) is having a tough run of barriers, with gate 5 and then a pair of 2nd line alleys in his 3 runs back from a spell. Buried from inside the 2nd line here last start, he was searching for a way clear that never arrived. This is easier than his last start and despite the gate he can make a play.

HIGH ON MONTANA (6) is afforded no favours from this alley but with added fitness after 2 runs back from a spell, is in the mix. Chasing behind CALVERT HOT SHOT at both runs back, he can feature.

CARIBBEAN ROCKET (3) was a winner here 3 starts back when buried away against the poles and then finding space to charge home for the prize. Grabbing 3rd last time out, he can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: MAYWYN A JUG ORTWO (7), BE ON THE SLY (5), HIGH ON MONTANA (6), CARIBBEAN ROCKET (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYN A JUG ORTWO (7) to win

RACE EIGHT

ROGERVALERIO LOMBO (7)
sneaks into this maiden despite opening his account here on Sunday. Having his first start in 13 months and his first for Jonah Hutchinson, he was crossed early before angled back to sit parked and then proved too strong. He will need some luck but looks up to it.

GAME KEEPER (1) was not suited last start when asked to sit parked and after the tough trip wilted in the closing stages. Midfield behind the huge winner IM PLAIN JANE 2 starts back, he lands the opportunity to take control from this alley and in front will be trying to fight them off.

MIKIYOURSOFINE (4) tackled a 2YO race here last start at his first look at the track. Unable to go with them when the speed went on, he finds an open maiden here to make a play.

KIMMIK (9) was having her first appearance in Qld off the back of 9 months off the scene. Grabbing 3rd behind the smart SUNNY COVE, the gate is against her once again.

SELECTIONS: ROGERVALERIO LOMBO (7), GAME KEEPER (1), MIKIYOURSOFINE (4), KIMMIK (9)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE NINE

MI FURIOSO TORO (5)
makes his first appearance in Qld, joining the Graham Dwyer stable. Last seen back in August, he was strong to the line over the Menangle mile to grab the bronze. He comes into this without a public trial and stays under a big watch.

MAN FROM BRAAVOS (4) resumes from a spell, featuring in a stable switch during the break. Last seen back in November when fading out behind JUST JOSHIN, he had 3 starts last campaign where he struggled to find his best. A two-time winner here, he can look to throw it down in this grade.

CATCH PHRASE (1) has a perfect record here on The Triangle, winning both her starts on this track. 6m from the winner SO AM I last start at headquarters, she has the gate to feature.

SELECTIONS: MI FURIOSO TORO (5), MAN FROM BRAAVOS (4), CATCH PHRASE (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TEN

HEMSWORTH (5)
has traversed The Triangle on one occasion, when running a solid 4th in the Redcliffe Derby claimed by KRUG. Resuming from a spell from inside the 2nd line last start, he proved he is not just a leader, powering home strongly from off the pace and putting them away in smart fashion. This series looks at his mercy.

PHILANDERING CHEF (4) fired out from gate 1 over the AP mile 3 starts back and from the front was able to take them all the way for a career PB win. Close to FIRST STRING at his next appearance when tackling a qualifier, he grabbed 3rd last start behind GLENLEDI BOY. He can put up a fight.

DOCTA FEELGOOD (6) is a three-time winner here at the Peninsula and last start tackled some smart 3YO’s in the Guineas. The gate is not ideal but with the small field he can fill the trifecta.

SELECTIONS: HEMSWORTH (5), PHILANDERING CHEF (4), DOCTA FEELGOOD (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 5 / 4 / 2-6
