The Queensland racing industry is set to showcase its marquee chasing and pacing features this month after signing a new broadcast agreement with the Seven Network.
Set to be screened on 7Plus, the agreement will see five of Queensland’s premier harness and greyhound meetings broadcast live and free across the nation throughout July.
The Group 1 Gold Bullion – the highlight of the Golden Greys Summer Carnival - will also be broadcast in early 2023.
The coverage will commence at Albion Park on Thursday night with 7Plus broadcasting the premier meeting of the TAB Queensland Greyhound Winter Racing Carnival, featuring the $525,000 Brisbane Cup and the $225,000 Queensland Cup, which will both be run at Group 1 level.
The highly popular TAB Origin Greyhound Series follows suit the following week, serving as the Carnival’s finale on July 14 with Queensland and NSW set to renew their on-track rivalry.
The TAB Queensland Constellations will also receive showcase coverage on the streaming platform from this Saturday, with the $305,000 Group 1 The Rising Sun – the Southern Hemisphere’s richest race for three and four-year-old pacers.
The Carnival’s July 16 meeting will then follow – inclusive of the famous Sunshine Sprint as well as two other Group 1 events – before Queensland’s Grand Circuit classic, the $350,000 TAB Blacks A Fake, takes centre stage on July 23.
Having enjoyed a long and established relationship with the Seven Network, Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell said the agreement was designed to showcase the state’s chasing and pacing ranks to a wider audience.
“Following the Seven Network’s recent coverage of the TAB Queensland Racing Carnival, we look forward to our harness and greyhound codes being beamed across the nation,” Mr Parnell said.
“Both codes continue to experience exponential growth in the Sunshine State, providing incredible racing and strong turnover, with blockbuster fields assembled for this month’s features.”
Viewers will be guaranteed three hours of racing coverage as a part of each broadcast, while Sky Racing will continue to show every Queensland TAB race throughout the year.
