RACE TWO

BRIGHTON PRINCE (1) was sent forward from gate 7 last start over the AP mile when forced to do it tough way. Grinding away, he held on to 4th behind BETTATHANIDEAL which had followed a tidy effort behind GOLIGHTLY in a Gold Pot Final. The return to the triangle from this gate should be enough to see him home.

MONTEREY JACK (4) was restrained from gate 6 last start and from back in the field was always going to struggle working into the contest as SOHO TSUNAMI took control at the front end. A passing lane runner-up behind WHICH HUNT 2 starts back, with the right run, he can challenge.

MAJOR LUCKY (7) eased from gate 5 over the 1780m here last start and was back in the field trying to make late ground. A strong 2nd over the AP Mile 3 starts back, he will be probing for gaps.

WARNER (2) made the most of a cosy trip in the trail here 2 starts back and using the passing lane made the closing shot a winner. Working home soundly last start, he is in the mix from this gate.

SELECTIONS: BRIGHTON PRINCE (1), MONTEREY JACK (4), MAJOR LUCKY (7), WARNER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: BRIGHTON PRINCE (1) to win

RACE THREE

OUR DOUG (2)
was having his 1st start in 7 months here last week when settling in the running line from the 2nd row. Finishing mid-field behind IMA REGAL JET, he will strip fitter for the outing and moving to the front line after his past 5 have been from the 2nd line, he looks set to get his chance.

MAYWYNS JEWEL (1) was a winner here 5 starts back over the 1780m when sent to the breeze and proving too strong. Placed in 3 of her 4 starts since that win, the latest was a tough effort outside the leader when 8m in deficit at the wire. With the improved gate, she can add to her good record here on the triangle where she has a top-3 in 9 of 11 appearances.

ALLSTAR SEA (8) started from gate 2 last start and was making a wide run from well back. Looming up, he couldn’t reel in the leader and winner holding on for 2nd. Getting closer to a Qld breakthrough, he has claims.

IMA REGAL JET (5) secured the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line last start and when the gaps arrived, sprinted sharply to arrive for a 2m victory. Only a half-neck away the start prior, he will be closing.

SELECTIONS: OUR DOUG (2), MAYWYNS JEWEL (1), ALLSTAR SEA (8), IMA REGAL JET (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-5-8

RACE FOUR

FEELS LIKA WINNER (2)
steps up to the 2040m as she shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins at the 1780m. Crossed early as they were released last start, she was out for the re-take and back in the lamp lighting role ran home a strong last 800m to land the loot. That followed a tough win from the breeze, and she lands the gate for the threepeat.

SWORD AND SHIELD (6) doesn’t have any favours from this alley, but with even luck can look to issue the challenge. Easing from this gate last time, the power was on all the way up front and he never had the chance to get into the contest. Only a neck away the start prior, look for him late.

MAWYN NO REGRETS (1) ended closer to the rear from gate 3 last start to secure position, hitting the line in nice style to be within 4m of the winner. Taking the trail from this gate 2 starts back, she has the options to feature.

FRENCH GLOBE (8) was warming up to something after successive placings and capitalised on gate 1 last start when going straight to the front and then never in danger to score. The gate hurts, but he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: FEELS LIKA WINNER (2), SWORD AND SHIELD (6), MAWYN NO REGRETS (1), FRENCH GLOBE (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

DAPPER BESSIE (4) will strip fitter from her latest appearance when 1st up for the new stable and having her 1st outing in 12 months. Easing from gate 5 over the 2040m, she was given plenty of time to balance up before working home over the top to claim an easy 4m victory. This is a marginal step-up but with the added fitness she can repeat.

BEEF CITY STARZZZ (1) found his race here 2 starts back when sent straight to the front and once in control was never in danger to score a comfortable 9m victory. Forced to roll the sleeves and dig in from the breeze over 2024m last start, he wilted under the pressure. The ace gate can see him atone.

MONTANA EXPRESS (6) retreated in the early stages last start from gate 5 to settle in a rearward position. Making a wide run in the closing stages, he was 5m in arrears of the win in grabbing 3rd. He can be chiming in late again here.

CANNAN (7) found the speed a little too slick in the closing stages last start and was left flat in trying to make an impression. A passing lane 2nd to TOANUI SPIRIT the start prior, he will be probing the gaps.

SELECTIONS: DAPPER BESSIE (4), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (1), MONTANA EXPRESS (6), CANNAN (7)
SUGGESTED BET: DAPPER BESSIE (4) to win

RACE SIX

A tricky contest here made harder by the fact that quite a few of these have shown that the middle-distance is not their preferred trip. With that in mind, MAGHERA MAGGIE (5) might just be able to capitalise. Forget her last start when too far back in a stronger contest, her win here 2 starts back was tough enough to suggest she is worth a chance in this.

TORQUE TO THE MAX (8) has been to the well 19 times over the middle distance, with the win bucket remaining empty, placing in 7 of them. Only 3m in arrears of the winner 2 starts back in a blanket finish behind NIKALONG HENRY, with the right early trail, she can issue the challenge.

MELTON LUCKY (2) broke the maiden tag here 4 starts back when finishing best from the running line to score a narrow victory. Placed at his next 2 starts, limiting the early burn can see him feature.

BAMBOLE NERE (6) went to the pegs last start from gate 3 and found the pressure over the AP 2138m out of reach. 3rd here 2 starts back over this trip behind MUCHO GUAPA, she has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: MAGHERA MAGGIE (5), TORQUE TO THE MAX (8), MELTON LUCKY (2), BAMBOLE NERE (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MAGHERA MAGGIE (5) to win

RACE SEVEN

HARRY CROFT (1)
has been freshened since his last appearance when 8m in arrears of the winner to finish mid-field. Beaten by gate 6 the start prior when snagging back to find position, he was gunned down here 3 starts back when leading them up. From the gate, he looks to get his chance to dictate.

GIDUP DARCY (7) will be 2nd up from a break and will take good benefit from the 1st up effort when holding on for the bronze. Finding the poles prior to releasing, it was a tidy effort and with the likelihood of an economical trip, he can be ready to make the closing shot a winner.

ELSIES GIRL (2) will be further tightened from her latest start when 2nd up from a break. Settling in the 1x1 trail, she was only 2m from the winner. With the right run, she can feature.

CATCH THE BOUQUET (4) has been the bridesmaid at 3 of her past 4 starts, the latest from the pocket trail when within 2m of the winner OCEANSIDE. The gate is a little sticky, but she has claims.

SELECTIONS: HARRY CROFT (1), GIDUP DARCY (7), ELSIES GIRL (2), CATCH THE BOUQUET (4)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

BRONSKI MACARENA (8) will take good benefit from her latest appearance when returning from a 7-week break since her previous outing. Settling in the running line from this same gate, she chimed in late to grab the bronze. Fitter for the outing and with the right run in transit, this is within reach.

HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (6) started from inside the 2nd line last start and soon found himself buried away and needing plenty of luck that didn’t really arrive. Hitting the line strongly here 2 starts back when only a half-neck from the winner, the gate stings, but this is no harder than recent starts.

HOLLIE (3) will strip fitter after her latest start when 1st up from a spell. Eased from gate 5 to find position, she didn’t get the cleanest passage when ready to offer. With the improved gate she can feature.

STAR OF WONDER (1) did his share of work last start and was looking to make a closing play when only 1m in arrears of the winner IM SANDY BAY. From this gate he can get the right trip to offer late.

SELECTIONS: BRONSKI MACARENA (8), HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (6), HOLLIE (3), STAR OF WONDER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BRONSKI MACARENA (8) to win

RACE NINE

LILLIES (4) pressed on to find the front here last start. After a steady opening 800m, she looked to dial it up but couldn’t last it out when WHATTA GOOD REASON was able to wear her down. Placed in 2 of 4 career starts to date, this looks her chance to open the account.

FRONTLINER (5) didn’t have the cleanest passage in the Breeders Classic Final when down the line behind the winner BIG WHEELS. Breaking his maiden with an all the way win to score at The Creek 3 starts back, he followed that with a tough 3rd from the breeze to TALENT TO SPARE. He is the danger.

FORGIVE ME (1) is a Pet Rock filly on debut for Peter Greig from the mare Forgiven who has had 5 starters for 5 winners, including the good performers JUST ROKIN, Mach Dreamy and Blazing Terror. With a sound trial in readiness, the gate will be a big plus.

SELECTIONS: LILLIES (4), FRONTLINER (5), FORGIVE ME (1)
SUGGESTED BET:
