MR-FEELGOOD.JPGQueensland’s leading sire - Mr Feelgood - has been on fire this season, especially hitting his straps since the start of May.

“It’s been a wonderful season, his progeny are regularly winning four races on a programme at Albion Park,” Mr Feelgood’s part owner Kevin Seymour said.

“Then there are several meetings where he has had three and two winners on the programme, and of course many daily doubles,” Seymour said.

“He even won the first four races at the Albion Park meeting on Saturday May 2; I don’t this the feat has ever been achieved before.”

The four Mr Feelgood pacers who won those first four races were:

  • the Grant Dixon trained and Trista Dixon driven 5YO mare, Red Charmer;
  • the Chantal Turpin trained and Peter McMullen driven 5YO rig, Feel The Reign;
  • the Grant Dixon trained and Trista Dixon driven 4YO mare, Goddess Jujon;
  • the Geoff Dawson trained and Kelli Dawson driven 6YO gelding, Feelingforamiracle.

“It’s just so great to see that Mr Feelgood is now dominating the Queensland Sires Premiership following his illustrious racing career where he was the only stallion ever to win the major races in both the United States and Australia,” Seymour said.

Mr Feelgood was the leading Sire of two-year-olds last season with 22 victories with Hurrikane Kingcole’s 16 the next best.

He also recorded a total of 160 wins in 2019-20 which saw him finish second behind Bettors’ Delight (213) in the Sires Premiership.

This season he’s got the better of Bettor’s Delight with 134 wins to 128; Mr Feelgood is also the leading sire of three-year-olds with 33 victories compared to Hurrikane Kingcole’s 29.

Nationally, Mr Feelgood has recorded 120 winners this season and 250 wins overall for $1.7 million prize money.

“Mr Feelgood has achieved what no other horse in the history of harness racing has done and will probably never do again on the racetrack,” Seymour said.

“That was win the most gruelling and prestigious race on the North American calendar, the Little Brown Jug, and Australasia’s flagship event, the Inter Dominion Final.

“Between his amazing deeds in the northern and southern hemispheres, the beautiful strong bay son of Grinfromeartoear accumulated a whopping $3.3 million in prize money during his racing career.

“But when you look at his purple pedigree, do his racetrack feats really come as that much of a surprise? After all, there are more millionaires in his family than there are in Hollywood!

“Mr Feelgood is a half-brother to millionaire mare, Remember When, and just for good measure, his grand dam is champion mare Leah Almahurst.

“That links him to legendary pacers Western Ideal, Life Sign, Three Diamonds, Naughty But Nice, American Ideal and World Champion filly American Jewel.”

Mr Feelgood currently stands at Egmont Stud for $2,000.
